This is awkwardly titled, and 1960 and Nixon has been done alot here, but bear with me this one is worth it.
I've been running through the "Campaign Trail" scenarios again, exploring how far to the left I can run the Republican candidates without pissing off big business to the extent that it completely kills their chances.
So for 1960, I ran a Nixon-Rockefeller ticket that generally ran to the left of Kennedy, except trying to stick to Ike's legacy, mainly by being moderate on economic issues and strongly pro Civil Rights.
I'm curious about what would have happened if this had actually happened? What if Rockefeller had agreed to be Nixon's running mate, Nixon ran to the left on civil rights, and the result was a clear JFK popular vote majority (note his margin in the scenario was significantly larger than is IOTL margin) but a decisive Nixon Electoral College win?
