Anna Pavlovna, Empress of Austria

As I said Alexander and Franz will need a big compromise: full Ortodox wedding in Saint Petersburg with both bride and groom present, then separate journeys to Austria with Anna's conversion (maybe on the way), then Catholic full wedding in Vienna again with both bride and groom present and consumation is the only way for having that wedding and Anna's consent is obligatory and needed for the wedding not something optional... No way that can happen with OTL Ferdinand so either he is like his brother Franz Karl or he will renounce to his rights and Franz Karl will be the groom and the heir...
The double full wedding plus bride conversion in between solution is the only way for having the wedding and consenting to both emperors to mantain their dignity, respenting their own traditions and if they really want that wedding they will do it...
And yes France also more often than not will require Catholic's conversion but exceptions can be made in some situation also for bride of rulers there

What exceptions exactly? If we're looking at Helene of Mecklenburg for the Prince Royal, I believe that was only after all Catholic avenues were closed. Liselotte of the Palatinate converted, and AFAIK there were no other Protestant-Catholic matches in the Bourbon period of rule (1589-1790s; 1815-1848).

The Bonapartes are a horse of a different colour.

I was talking mostly about Bonapartes or Orleans about rulers or heirs plus that big group of member of the french royal family who were protestants or leaned in that direction
