Anglo-German-Russian Alliance

I heard the the king of England, the Kaiser, and the Tsar were all 1st cousins so is there a way to make an alliance between Germany, Russia and the UK by ww1? Maybe make Nicholas II and Wilhelm less incompetent?

Russia was a competitor of Britain in central Asia. The term "the great game" comes from there.
Germany was a competitor of Britain on the Oceans. The term "Hochseeflotte" comes from there.

More generally, alliances can only last if they have a threat that outweighs the tension within the alliance. The UK, Germany, and Russia have no such rival block; even a combined Franco-Italo-Austro-Hungarian-Turkish-American alliance, which is all but impossible to emerge, would still be seen as an underdog at this point. Thus, the proposed alliance either never forms or is highly unstable.

You would have to remove Willy from the equation to make it work. Or even if you don't, you'll be have to make concessions to him. The German Emperor was known to be pretty insecure and unstable. One moment you could sign something with him and some time later he would be about to throw it away in a moment of disarray. That was why Germany was becoming somewhat isolated in the years leading to the WWI.

But if the alliance survived past them, I can see it becoming one of the most powerful blocks in Earth, only rivalized by the United States. You'll have the resources of Russia, the scientific oriented people of Germany and the navy of Britain. Pretty amazing.

Also, don't forget reforms, every one of them will have to make internal reforms to make it work too.

Some ways this might happen:

-If Russia and Germany are already allied from the start and opposing Britain initially, then maybe Britain would be forced to support them in the interests of balance?
-Franco-Austrian War doesn't happen and Austria becomes slightly stronger. France and Austria become allies. Following this, Germany allies with Russia against Austria and a failure of the Anglo-French detente could lead to an Anglo-German alliance, ultimately creating a Triple Entente with Russia, Germany and Britain.
-Bismarck stays in charge of foreign policies.
-Maybe Francis Joseph dies early while Rudolph does not commit suicide, then Austria-Hungary under him might align itself with France? Colonial affairs with France and Britain become more hostile and forces Britain to tend to the German-Russian side over the Franco-Austrian side. War happens earlier, maybe in the 1890s or 1900s, because the colonial conflicts during that time were still fresh, and this would be before the populations in Germany and Austria can do something about the diplomatic hostilities between their countries by pressuring their governments.

Anyway, if this alliance did form then they would win easily and take control of pretty much all of Europe.
