Hey Guys,
This is a concept I've been interested in for a while now, and it's the possibility of an Anglo-German Union, that's purely accidental.
Here's the thought, Queen Victoria has a second daughter rather than her son Albert (later Edward VII). She then follows on by having a miscarriages, the child would've been her OTL child Alfred. Now the Royal family is a little stuck, but as they have another son (Prince Arthur) in the military and her last son, Leopold. Disaster strikes when not only does Leopolds first child die at the age of 2 months (OTL Princess Alice) but Arthur is killed as well while serving in the army in 1880, a year after his marriage.
Now all hopes go to Prince Leopold, he has a child (OTL Charles Edward) that survives and reaches teenage-hood. Though in 1901, just a week before Queen Victoria's death Charles Edward dies, the only possible male successor has gone in a flash. Now the successor to the throne, just one week later, is Princess Victoria, Queen Victoria's first-born.
Queen Victoria II is crowned later that year, although as it was in the year 1901 this wasn't to last. Queen Victoria II dies of breast cancer before anything can be done about the successor to the crown, and in fact Queen Vic II says that she wishes for her son to take over the crown - Wilhelm II of Germany.
Now what happens? What can the British government do after the daughter of their cherished Queen wishes for her son to take the crown of Britain? What would be the after-effects if Wilhelm did become William V of Britain as well?
I know this sequence of events seems highly ASB but don't forget that sometimes events in history simply go a certain way, no matter how ASB they may seem.
