Anglo-Aragonese Alliance

From what I read, the English attempted to have a marriage alliance with Aragon, the later 1200's but did not happened because Aragon is on interdict, Eleanor of England, Countess of Bar was originally to marry Alfonso III of Aragon..

I think if Matilda of Brittany, the younger sister of Eleanor and Arthur of Brittany who died in Early childhood in OTL could be married off to Peter III of Aragon, Eleanor of Brittany is too prestigious to be used as an alliance and Philippe Auguste would veto that..I think if an Anglo-Aragonese alliance happens the 1190's there will be no Aragonese involvement in the Cathar crusade.

Hmm, in one of my now-abandoned ATLs, Arthur marries Peter II's sister, Sancha. That was back when I thought it was still possible to hold the Angevin Empire together, and when I thought Richard the Lionheart was a good king. But, it could still have been a possibility if Arthur had succeeded John instead of Richard.

I think Eleanor of Brittany is very close to age to Peter II so she could be his wife but I think if her sister Matilda survives, Matilda would end up marrying Eudes III of Burgundy or Peter II before the death of Richard the Lionhearted, Eudes II was interested in marrying Eleanor of Brittany so it is more possible that Matilda ends up with either Eudes II, Sancho of Navarre or Alfonso IX of Leon rather than Peter II.

If Matilda survives, she would have married before Richard's OTL death to one of the other suitors of Berengaria of Castile and Eleanor of Brittany other than the French prince, and we would have a different treaty of Goulet if John still succeed.
