"Mr President, Sorry to wake you at this hour, but we've got the Korean War being resumed right now."

"how bad is it?"

"Right now, we'd be lucky if we don't have a repeat of Iraq and Syria."

"What are our options?"

NUCLEAR EXPLOSION IN PYONGYANG

According to japanese officers, the gigantic glow seem in the area of pyongyang have been confirmed as a nuclear explosion, experts says that the north korean army was transporting the device with almost no security measure, resulting in overreating and the detonation.

Sources from the south korean government confirm that while the explosion happened at 30km from the city, the radiation have already penetrated in pyongyang itself

Ooc: there seems to be confusion within the tl. I doubt it would take three days for the us to hit Pyongyang.

Ic: "the kpa are banking on most of Korea being too broken to resist them by the team they get back"

OOC: Minor Retcon moving my updates forward two days to minimise confusion.

IC:

"So we're tracking missile launches from the DRPK"

"fuck. Where they headed?"

"most of them seem to be reaching towards either to the South or Japan, but there's two that seem to be heading in another direction."

"Get Beijing on the phone right now!"

“I had only been on the JDS Ashigara as an exchange officer for 12 days when the bloody situation went down.

My official position in the crew was ADO but that was somewhat tenuous given me being an Aussie on an exchange program and having never served on a Aegis DDG before and while my command of Japanese was good, well good for an Australian that is, it was laughably inadequate – but the whole thing happened so bloody fast and so unexpectedly that I was the most senior and would you believe it the most experienced officer on board the old girl?

Tokyo was lucky that day – the Ashigara was equipped with some SM3 ABS missiles – and had 8 of her missile cells thus equipped – and was just completing a 5 day visit to the capital when the attack happened.

Despite the lack of senior officers – she had a good crew – Solid long term specialists you know?

Knew their stuff – right? Proper professionals!

Well they made me look bloody good that day – with only 4 targets we doubled down on each one – managing to very quickly determine what was a warhead and what was a discarded booster– and we got solid hits on all 4 missiles at about 20K.

Job done. Medals all round yeah?

Like I said Tokyo got very lucky that day – what with us tied up in the dock

Kobe...wasn’t so lucky.......”

"The nuclear, chemical and biological attacks were bad enough for South Korea and its allies, but the most visceral threats came in the form of the KPA Storm Corps. With a reputation for fearsome military training and espirit de corps, they were now being launched into battle for the first time, and they would definitely live up to their name..."
