Ancient Egypt vs Carthage

Before the Romans showed up in North Africa, there was a massive war between Ancient Egypt and Carthage over modern day Libya.

1. Who would win?
2. When would the war start and end?
3. How would this affect the Roman invasions? Or even the Punic wars?
4. Would this war change North Africa today?

I'm not sure I know about this massive war, I tought Ptolemies were more focused on eastern Mediteranean basin, at the point Cyrenaica was often de facto independent rather than fought about.

The only conflict I'm aware of would be Ophellas (a rogue governor of Cyrenaica, technically obeying Ptolemy I, independent in facts) allying with Agathocles, eventually being killed by the latter.

I'm not the most knowledgable person about the period, tough, so could you provide me some details?

I have trouble conjuring up a reason for conflict between them. Before the Punic Wars, Carthage's territorial interests were mainly focused on Sicily; Egypt, on the other hand, was looking eastward to Syria. Despite both being in North Africa they were essentially moving in two different geopolitical arenas. You asked about the effect this would have on the Punic Wars, but I think this is only a likely scenario if Carthage has already decisively defeated Rome; if Rome is still a threat and Carthage's dominion of Sicily is incomplete, going to war with the Ptolemies over Cyrene seems both premature and profoundly foolish.

1. Egypt would win it like they won Qadesh- not really a victory
2. Under Nectanebo who briefly freed Egypt from Persia, probably over a trade dispute or invasion of a Phonecian city
3. It would be quick and short - Cathaginians liekd to maneuver but before hannibal had little appetite for long wars. Not too much effect
4. It depends more on Egypt than on Carthage. If they secured Cyrenaica (which they would own for only a couple years due to Egypt's inefficient conquest strategy), or won a victory, they might turn it into a propaganda win for Nectanebo and hold off Persia. In that case, Egypt could have had its ancient rulers and tradition carry on the Kingdom into the Roman period.

An early victory for Egypt that grants them control of Crete and Cyprus, and causing enough havoc amongst the Persians, but not amongst the Diadochi could be the PoD to let this happen.

If Egypt has spare strength, not enough to defeat the remaining Diadochi, but to take over Sicily? That could draw them into a war with Carthage.

By and large, that would be a better wargoal than Libya.

BUT if it needs to be Libya, they could fight over Sicily, and the Egyptians either as part of the war, or pre-war, force the Libyan tribes into vassalage, centred around a city near OTL Leptis Magna would be/is. Libya exists as a vassal, Egypt can use that as a base to invade the Carthaginian main land in a trade war, or another war over Sicily. That follow up war would be interesting. By Libya isn't that great a prize, and acts as a natural buffer between the two states.

Neither the Ptolemies nor the Carthaginians cared enough about their border dispute to go to war over it. IIRC, they resolved it in a fairly standard, peaceful manner and they didn't have much reason to do otherwise-Carthage cared far more about their commercial endeavors in the Mediterranean, and the Ptolemies cared far more about maintaining a buffer in Palestine and taking strategic forts along the Anatolian coast, and again, what they wanted out of that area they could easily get from the Carthaginians who were too occupied elsewhere to care.
