Some say it had to happen. Some say that the events of human history were set in stone, unavoidable-the embodiment of the creeping fatalism that has haunted mankind, the idea that no matter what we do, we are condemned to a single path upon this Earth, hemmed in by some cosmic force, the higher order of the universe, or just human nature.

The man of 2010 makes small choices every single day, and every single day leaves innumerable possible paths behind, paths leading to other places. So, just as the world of 2110 shall be built on the choices of 2010, that the world of 2010 was built on the choices of 1910. If those choices had been made differently...
Since what happened happened, there is no way to know for sure what would become of a world where those in the past made different choices-every day predictions of the future are proven wrong. But still, it is to man to dream of such worlds. Of course, if one man of 1923 had decided to shoot in a slightly different direction...
