OK, I'm thinking of using this scenario in Resurrection City. Tell me what you think.
In August 1968, the Mayor puts HHH in over RFK. Like Hillary, he is offered the Veep slot. Like her, he initially refuses. When he is promised a cabinet seat and one ally, he accepts. The conditions are that he will be anointed in 1976 if winning. RFK reluctantly accepts. Now Nixon narrowly leads HHH, but it goes to the House. Dixie and the GOP elect Nixon, but the Senate narrowly votes for RFK as VP, with HHH breaking the tie as Senate President. Now this could be very *interesting*. How badly would this taint RFK's '76 chances? I can see a decent working relationship here. There's some common ground on civil rights, but little else.
