An interesting '44 twist

Joe Kennedy said:
Harry, what are you doing campaigning for that crippled son-of-a-bitch that killed my son Joe?
Truman told Kennedy to shut the hell up or he would be thrown out the window, until Bob Hannegan stepped in.
So, what if he had?

Yeah, it's not likely but it's interesting.

Truman gets charged with manslaughter causing death instead of becoming VP, his Senate seat goes Republican?

This was after Truman was VP nominee.

Truman gets dropped faster than Eagleton, replaced most likely with Illinois' favorite son: Scott Lucas. The objections to Byrnes and Wallace are still there, and Lucas is a Midwesterner with blue-collar roots plus being a strong Administration loyalist.

Byrnes and Wallace were the finalists though. I could see Byrnes getting the nod, especially since Byrnes wouldn't be seen as someone to do something that, er, rash.
Is Dewey still going to lose? The Kennedy dynasty is essentially scuttled, though I could see Bobby going into politics. I wonder how their Father's death will color their views on politics though, and on the Dems...

Byrnes is Southern, had been vetoed by labor for his strongly pro-RTW stance, plus was a Catholic convert to Episcopalianism- all baggage which had necessitated his veto IOTL.

I'm not sure exactly how you propose Truman is going to be able to bodily lift Joe Kennedy enough to throw him out of the window. Besides which, I think we can safely assume Truman was exaggerating for effect.

Though Joe Kennedy and Harry Truman slugging it out in a fist fight is a pretty cool concept. Not exactly sure it would do Truman's career any harm either.

I thought about putting this into ASB, but it does not require the intervention of a literal Alien Space Bat. Just really, really, implausible.

I'm not sure if Joe would die, I think in the context of the quote it would be ironic if he ended up crippled. Again: If Joe died, would this be enough for Dewey to possibly win? Such a thing has never happened during an election before, so I'm not sure. Also, how would the Kennedy family be affected by his loss?

I doubt FDR will lose or come close to it.

How will the family be affected by their loss: quite simply if they go national the road is much longer and harder. Jack could not have been nominated in MA-10 had his father not bought off all his rivals and the media. He paid the Globe editor a handsome sum so they would not even mention Jack's primary rivals in the paper. By his own admission JFK admitted that he wouldn't have had the drive to enter politics without his father's pushing. Bobby is another story, since he was always fanatically single-minded.

How would the death affect Bobby's view towards politics? Or is this just too much psychology and not enough history to give a definite answer?

Some psychology, but not too much. He'll have never gained his father's approval when his father was alive, so even more determined when he emerges from his grief. Similar to 1964-5 IOTL, but since he won't be running for anything until '54 or '56 earliest there's plenty of time for recovery.

It's been suggested on more then one occasion that we have a forum for highly improbable/implausable but not truely ASB ideas.

On your topic, I can't see Truman actually picking-up Joseph Kennedy and throwing him out a window
