An indigenous Gaelic Irish establishment joins the UK between 1688 and 1871

How different would the United Kingdom be if Ireland, hitherto, Gaelic and independent had joined the UK through a bilateral act of union at any time between 1668 and 1871. This means a union of crown and legislature and has to happen without any kind of conquest of Ireland by Britain. It could happen through succession/marriage or some other way.
How would the United Kingdom and Ireland be different?

Well, given that your PoD has to be back before 1200, who's to say that there'd even BE a United Kingdom.

Hmmm.... Personal union? Maybe or not, it depends. But a United Kingdom of Great Britain and (Gaelic) Ireland? I don't really think so

You might get Ireland and Britain as allies. The Irish and English legal and social systems are not compatible.
