An increase of radicalism, ideology, and extremism during the 20th century

What if, by the beginning of the 20th century, people become just a small degree more radical than they were in OTL? Ideologies spring into place just a little more easily, and fanatics rise up to serve movements and causes just a small percentage more frequently. There are a few more philosophers, a few more strange and ingenious authors, and artists.

Basically, what if the 'color' of the 20th century, valued for being so bright and varied, was more intense? More radicals, more ideologies, and more extremists.

What might happen? (This might be ASB, but it might not. It just doesn't have one quantifiable POD.)

I don't see how being just a bit *more* radical and *less* levelheaded would have made much difference. It might have been just enough to catch in one or two more states, but really, if you want a century defined by destructive ideologies, I'd say XX beats even XI.
