An Examination of Extra-Universal Systems of Government

The post-war Japanese Federation is explicitly modeled on American lines, English becomes the dominant language in Japan, and American culture becomes the basis for post-war Japanese culture.
I take it Japan's ruling elite ITTL is largely if not entirely Christian religiously?

in the Electoral circus the Cold war is still in effect and since the (pseudo) communist block is still exists and the USSR has become similar to OTL china so that's unlikely to change.
How did France become so powerful?

More that France remained powerful by keeping a tighter grip on its African colonies. It let them gain nominal independence but France still reigns.

The Question of Nationhood
My world map for the American Union EEUSG entry.

  • The PoD is Lincoln, Johnson and Seward all being assassinated by John Wilkes Booth and his co-conspirators. There is a major crisis in government which puts the radical Republicans in charge. Their heavy-handed reprisals against the South sparks a wave of armed rebellion, waging a guerrilla war against Northern occupation.
  • Different European wars lead to more violence leading to the formation of the German Empire. There is far more resentment between the French and the Germans, and Napoleon III dies during the alt-Franco-Prussian War, thus making him a martyr to the French cause.
  • The Spanish Revolution leads to the exile of the Spanish monarchs and the independence of Spain's colonial empire.
  • France becomes the patron of both Japanese and Chinese modernization, while the Russians take advantage of the fall of the Qing Dynasty and its replacement with an ethnic Han dynasty.
  • The Great War is between the Germans, Americans, British, Austrians and Italians against the French and the Russians. The collapse of Austria and Italy lead to them being millstones for that alliance, and the outbreak of socialist revolution in the United States takes them out of the war, until the revolutionaries begin an invasion of Canada, which further weakens Britain. The French and the Russians emerge victorious, although the Russians have their own revolution afterwards.
  • The Russians Revolution successfully throws out the Tsar, but the Russian Federative Republic that forms afterward quickly becomes a sovereignist republic. Russia remains a one-party sovereignist state, retaining a federal model that keeps ethnic minorities in their own "sovereign republics" while they are Russified.
  • The French Third Republic falls in the interwar period, replaced by the Third Empire, another Napoleonic empire. Their first, successful war, reinstates the Spanish monarchs in Spain.
  • There is a second war between France and Russia on one side, and the Germans and British on the other. The British and Germans lose. It is not generally considered a world war, and is known throughout most of the world as the Saxon War.
  • Egypt, which was supported by Britain, and then France, manages to become a major African power in the aftermath of the Great War and the Saxon War.
  • India gains its independence whole, as a secular military dictatorship.
  • British hardliners flee to Australia, along with a few royals.
  • The French Empire has tried to organize itself as a post-racial, post-ethnic empire, unified by common French culture and French language. They hope to spread this system to the rest of the world, making the whole world French. In practice, there are major tensions between the metropole and the former colonies, and between the Bonapartes and the National Assembly.

That's a really interesting idea, given that Proudhon disapproved of a bunch of practices but was explicitly opposed to actually banning them. Let me think about it.

Please don't screw it up though. I'm a mutualist and I would love if you did something beyond just "coops run everything" that most people typically do.

Also can I recommend where this anarchist society would be in?

Oh, you're a mutualist yourself? Please, you should write it. I'd imagine you've got a lot better understanding of the ideology than I do. Just run it by me first before you post.
