Here's a question that you probably see a lot on this board, so I apologize in advance, but I would like to know the answer. Suppose that, due to internal troubles in France during the 1770s, or perhaps failed American diplomacy the French do not enter the American Revolution or supply the Americans with aid. Would the Continental Army still win, since the British are fighting on enemy soil, or would the British be able to put down the revolution and form some sort of dominion? Could this have happened? What would be the long-term effects on American, British, and French economics and culture?

Your answer does not have to be long - any feedback would be appreciated. If there are other threads on this topic, please direct me to them. Thank you.
