An American Coup

Do you think it would be possible to have a military coup in the united states in the post-9/11 era (although said coup does not have to be directly caused by 911)

Not at all.

I would say that it would take decades of change for our military to even be capable of such an act and that is not even the way the military is going at this point.

So not for such a long time that it would be FH instead of AH.

No.

Not now.

Not in 2001.

Not ever.

To loosely quote Ghost88 "If the U.S. military didn't rise up in the aftermath of the Walter Reed scandal, it never will".

Since there wasn't even a ripple over that smack in the face, there is no chance (not there ever really was one).

The U.S. military takes an oath to the CONSTITUTION, not to a person. As corny as it sounds, that oath means something to those who take it (I've personally taken slightly different versions of it three times & I meant it every time). That oath means you UPHOLD the law.

Not ever.
I wouldn't use such strong terms.
Given, say, a hundred years, things might have changed enough that a military coup is merely unlikely, instead of for all intents and purposes impossible.
Saying never is inviting it to occur:'It can't happen here!'.

Fair enough.

Pending the current Constitution being replaced by some Hitlerian oath to a madman, the U.S. militry will not stage a coup.

Or the Constitution being eroded by other things so much that an oath to it wouldn't hold the strength it has today.
Heck, if the Executive, the Legislative or both were widely seen as not following the Constitution, in spirit if not in body, then the oath might be the motivation for it.
Still requires some pretty big changes to the US that are very unlikely to happen in forseeable future.
