An Amazing POD Involving the Worst Star Trek Series and President Obama

From this page on TvTropes (yes, I linked to it . . .)

In a recent and amusing example, actress Jeri Ryan divorced her husband to play Seven of Nine on Star Trek Voyager (he refused to move to Hollywood with her). The divorce was contentious, and a lot of salacious dirt was spilled. When Jack Ryan ran for the U.S. Senate in 2004, the release of the documents forced him to withdraw, allowing his challenger to win in a landslide against a last-ditch replacement. The landslide victory propelled the challenger, Barack Obama, to a position from which he could then launch a campaign for President, and... well, you know the rest. But it probably goes differently in Voyager's historical database.

Do you mean to say you could have had a President Jack Ryan?????

PRESIDENT JACK RYAN??????

Who needs GWB as proof Americans are idiots, they passed up on having PRESIDENT JACK RYAN!!!!!!!!!

Surely this alone should make us forgive the sins of Voyager?

I guess your POD is rather than parachute in some Borg ass Voyager is cancelled?

Meh, Obama would have won that race whoever the GOP candidate was. He had a huge warchest, starpower after his speech at the covnention, the Illinois GOP was on the backfoot, and Obama consistently lead in polls throughout the primary season and campaign. Unless the GOP ressurect Lincoln through black magic voodoo, they're not going to hold the seat.

Oh they elected a guy with Hussein in his name I think that's amusing enough :D

No, no Lincoln's a republican they need to ressurect FDR in his younger days! Wait.....that's it! Someone get me a chicken and a virgin, we's got us a president!

I should add that the GOP only really took the seat in the first place because of Moseley Braun's shady finances, against the backdrop of Clinton's second term. Apart from those six years, Illinois's US senate delegation has been entirely Democratic since '85.

We are not planning any type of thing...
*Readies vodoo Lincoln magic*

I just like the idea of a president that had sex with Seven of Nine.

Actually any idea that includes Jeri Ryan and Sex is a pleasant idea.;):D

If you consider Voyager the worst you never saw the last season of Enterprise and you need to visit a doctor because something is very wrong with your eyesight. Me, I´m not seeing anything that is not fine!

I second this post. Voyager was definitely better than Enterprise. Additonally, though some of the stories and arcs in STV were lame, I always thought the characters' personalities and relationships were very good.

I thought the last season of Enterprise was the best season and it was the earlier seasons that were weaker. What about the last season made it so bad in your eyes? It can't just be because of the final episode, every season of every series has a few bad episodes but you can't condemn the entire season because of one.

I've always felt the relationship between Chakotay and Seven was very contrived, it just didn't make sense to me.

As above, Voyager does not deserve the title of worst star trek series. That should go to to a certain other something mentioned above already. But this idea of Obama as a bridge captain that's just entered my head appeals to me...

"They destroy entire planets...they assimilate entire worlds...and we fall back. No more! Can we draw the line here? Yes we can!" :D

Obama spoke at the convention after the Jack Ryan scandal hit, and Ryan was forced to leave the race. Indeed, the somewhat long interum between Ryan's depature made Obama's victory all but a done deal by the time he was asked to speak at the convention. If he was in a somewhat competive race, who says he's speaking at the convention in the first place?

Third season was A-mazing, the fourth was a bunch of mostly weak and entirely unconnected episodes. And the last ep wasn´t the worst, that honor goes to the warmed-up-again Nazi-nonsense.

4th season pandered to much to the CONTINUITY!!!11! brigade so was trying to patch holes in the story.

Enterprise would have been better if it had been a reboot as in the new film.

Voyager had it's moments, I particularly enjoyed that episode where they watched a whole civilisation rise because of a temporal anomaly.
