This is a short timeline since I am running ideas for my two main timelines, this is about Empress Matilda

A Marriage Proposal

On 1125 Henry V of the Holy Roman Empire dies and since Empress Matilda is the daughter of the English King, she is one of the most eligible heiresses in England, she decided to leave for England just after her father’s death and mourning her husband, she told that she would have the regalia with her.

She passes to Flanders and decided to stop there, in Flanders she stays in the court of Karl of Flanders who is impressed of her and knew that she is very eligible as a bride.

The Empress Dowager liked the company of Karl of Flanders, she told him that he is a fine duke of Flanders and a Danish Prince, she delayed her journey to England, she fell in love with the Duke of Flanders.

She sent a message to her father, Henry I of England that she would marry the Duke of Flanders and even sent a dispensation from the pope for them to marry and thus the Dowager Empress of the Holy Roman Empire is engaged to Karl of Flanders.

Karl of Flanders insisted that they marry, so they were married in Ghent and Matilda of England was happy in their union, for Henry I of England, he is shocked at the sudden marriage of his daughter and heiress, he himself is married to Adelaide of Louvain, a Dutch woman.

Matilda is married to a dutch and danish duke ruling Flanders which means that she could produce sons of her own earlier and the fact that she is the next line to the English throne meant that Karl could reacquire denmark for his own since his father was the King of Denmark.

The Dowager Empress told herself that she had married a monk not a man or a ruler but he is useful for him.

Empress Matilda give birth to a son named Henry on the early part of 1126, the child was surnamed as the Henry FitzEmpress.
