American style racial system in Latin America

Anyway Latin America could develop a racial system similar to that of the United States.

What would be the impact of this.

Do you mean pre-independence or post-independence? Because pre-independence had that whole Casta-System, which categorized Spaniards, Blacks, Natives, and Mixed-Raced people in a hierarchy

Both, and didn’t the Casta system continue after independence but without legal status ?

It'd be difficult. For one thing you'd have to look at how the colonies were settled. The 13 Original Colonies were settled by families while Canada and Latin America primarily by young men and missions who intermarried with natives and slaves. Both Spain and France had to offer incentives for marriageable young women and girls to emigrate. And you could look the racial systems in reverse...........................
Louisiana's racial system was very similar to Latin America and the Appalachians and swamps were filled with triracial isolates dating back to the 1600's such as Melungeons and Redbones. There was always going to be a color-based heirarchy.

Do you think Latin Americans would have to learn racism from the United States? Racism, and racial power structures exist all over the world. They are a human curse.

The American racial system is barely able to function in USA, if you tried to introduce it elsewhere it would simply break apart because it ran counter to the power and the racial structures in those countries.

Fun Fact: the US recognized mixed race populations, white people with african and native ancestry and were 1. Never uniform and 2. Not even somewhat consistent until after the reconstruction era

The Spanish Empire likely disintegrates earlier. Spanish rule especially early on relied on the support of what remained of the indigenous aristocracy to supply manpower and in some areas, govern the land.

In parts of the US, like Louisiana, a more Latin America like racial system was in place (i.e., black-white not viewed as binary one-drop rule, so octoroons, quadroons, and mulattos were all recognized as things, and even annual balls for them were held). I suspect if you're a settler colony, like most of the original 13, you get a more one-drop rule kind of thing. If you're not, you tend to get more of a Latin American thing (I understand in India there's actually a separate caste for half Anglo, half Indian, and they're particular about the blood quantum).

More racial politics most likely in terms of them vs. us. This happend and also happens in Latin America to some extend. On the other hand it is more like a melting pot. There are also Millions of more emmigrants from all over Europe and the Middle East and Asia who melted in with the local population. So a racial system would make no sensr for many people with multiple ancestry. In the end ut is more like Rich vs Poor.
