American Quebec sides with CSA

I just had an interesting idea an American Quebec sides with the CSA because of states rights. would there be any way for this to work?

If the US has Canada, that's likely to shift the balance of power in favor of the Northern Free States much earlier, and might lead to an earlier civil war that the South has a better chance of winning since Northern industrial might hasn't developed as much yet.

But the Civil War was not about states' rights. If Quebec was going to secede, it might ally with the Confederacy, but for completely different reasons.

Even if they were politically inclined to do so, they still wouldn't secede, since short of British intervention they'd be isolated from support and at the mercy of the navy. It'd be extremely foolish militarily.

Nope, first distance: you have miles of hostile north states between both ''front'', the south states couldn't stop US troops to enter Montreal and Quebec.
Second, ideology: Sorry, it was about slavery and plantation model which is non-existent in Quebec, there would have no intensive for regular people (you know, the poor bloody infantry) to take arm. Especially if in the ATL annexation the USA was lenient enough to let the ''Canadian'' keep their own language and custom.
