Would it be possible for the Qing to get some reforms through and lurch on into the middle of the century with little changing in Europe? Because if so the Qing could fill the role of the Chinese Republic in WWII, which was an American ally. Alternatively, a different sort of open door policy a the end of the 19th century might lead to an alliance.[/QUOT
My idea, was that sometime from 1700-1860s the Qing would offer an alliance, and America would probably accept, and lead to the Qing modernizing with American help, and America can get some exclusive deals on Chinese products.
