American geopolitics without World War 2

Say Hitler dies after occupying the rest of Czechoslovakia or decides to hold off on demanding Danzig or whatever.

What would be the impact on American Geopolitics

How would a lack of World War 2 effect American influence around the World

By the time you get to 1939, WW2 is pretty much inevitable. But if Hitler dies just after he becomes chancellor, it is likely the Nazis are “just another” right wing dictatorship like the ones in Italy, Russia and eventually Spain. Let’s say the worst conflict might be an isolated border dispute war that does not become an invasion or world war. Germany might market some of its fledgling technology, like transistors and tape recorders.

The US, though, is struggling to overcome the Depression and most of the thirties will be much like OTL. By the early forties, Germany will assume a dominating role in industrial technology. There will be no reason for the US to suspend the progress of automobiles and television. The world will be moving into the betterment of consumer technology instead of massive war. Stalin will not be mobilizing a massive army to fight Germany.

America would not see the world dominance it had in the fifties and sixties. But the world would be in a growth phase through the forties and there would be no Cold War as we know it. It would be as if the attitudes of the nineties landed fifty years earlier.

A confrontation with Japan is still likely, but the US would remain focused on its near abroad in Latin America and East Asia. The Philippines would probably be let go in a similar process to OTL, with US military bases remaining for the foreseeable future and US economic interests assured.

A move toward global free trade is much less likely if the US isn't the only industrial power left standing left standing. Access to US markets was a valuable political tool to rebuild western Europe and Japan and dis-incentivize third world states from getting too cozy with Moscow, but there wouldn't be a need for this without WW2 and the Cold War.

State capitalism would be more dominant than economic liberalism. Eastern Europe and a non-communist China will probably try import-substitution industrialization and indicate planning along the lines of Japan's MITI and South Korea's 5 year plans. The Great Powers will probably try to build tariff walls around their spheres of economic influence. Some of the Balkan states could become German economic satellites.
