So, something that has always interested me is the founding, growth, and development of cities in new places especially within the last one hundred or so years. Perhaps for me the most blatant example of this is the development of Dubai and even the development of Bahrain as a whole. While we are seeing the creation and growth of new cities in areas like China, India, and in the Middle East, we have yet to see similar developments in Europe or the United States. That is why I am wondering, when in the 20th century is it possible for a Dubai-esque city to grow in the United States in an area where such growth is usually impossible. Could be see a city built primarily on land reclamation on the West or East Coast where nothing existed before?
What regions could we see this happen? Which lands might we see turned into cities? Why would they be created?
