American 'bronze age collapse?'

in the old world, the bronze age collapse led to the establishment of iron-based societies and states after a subsequent dark age.

could a similar combination of famines, rebellions and foreign invasions lead to such a development in the pre-columbian new world as well? when could this happen, and who would be the 'sea peoples' of the new world? I imagine some sweeping southward invasion from the great plains devastating Mesoamerica, and the Andean states following suite as trade routes are disrupted and instability becomes the norm.
Or maybe a vinland-gone-wrong could result in some northern tribes adopting viking weaponry and raiding tactics, and spreading it to the rest of the continent through raiding and pillaging.

Isn't this OTL several times, except instead it was caused by droughts and famines? Like the collapse of notable Maya states, Teotihuacan, etc. in Mesoamerica, Tiwanaku, the Wari, etc. in the Andes, or Cahokia, and the entire Mississippian civilisation in general? In Mesoamerica there was multiple times invasions from the north of migrating peoples, one of which become the Nahuas who created many states, including later the Aztec Empire. The Ancestral Puebloans were devastated by drought, but there was likely warfare with the migrating Navajo from the north hence their other name "Anasazi", "ancient enemies".

I was asking about an earlier PoD than the Spaniards, not necessarily involving the old world at all

Most likely would be for these "Sea Peoples" could be the coast of modern Chile, Peru, and Ecuador, considering that civilisations there were both good seafarers (albeit in need of better ships) and also used bronze. Suppose the Polynesians show up on Juan Fernandez and Galapagos at an early date since they didn't pause their settlements across the Pacific for centuries as IOTL. Soon the coastal peoples will have ships similar to their's, AND new agriculture, which given a drought or something similar, could spark waves of migration on land and sea, affecting both the Andes and Mesoamerica. They'd transmit new technologies (copper and bronze use will skyrocket), new ways of war, new philosophies, new technologies, etc., but for a time, it would be pretty chaotic there.

Another equivalent to Sea Peoples would be a "Bronze Age West Coast"--plausible (assuming they get a more complex society earlier), since Alaska has tin deposits and OTL the natives were great sailors (of course we need to make them even better by giving them bigger/better boats) who even had contact with the Old World via East Asian castaways. The poor lands where the Haida, Tlingit, etc. live would encourage migration to more fertile land, which could trigger further migrations from displaced people (who also are making increased use of copper and bronze)--Wakashan-speaking peoples, Salish-speaking peoples, Chinookans, the Ohlone, the Chumash, etc. who eventually might be lured to the wealth of Mesoamerica and start sacking cities/settling. As above, they'd transmit new technologies (copper and bronze use will skyrocket), new ways of war, new philosophies, new technologies, etc.
