Soviet intervention from occupied Manchuria.

It may slow the Maoists down, but without anything short of actual American troops fighting on the ground, the overall outcome wouldn’t have changed.

Given that Maoist troops often operated from rural areas and used sweeping countryside offensives to surround Kai-Shek’s forces and starve out the cities, I don’t think air power would be as effective as it maybe could be - although it still would prove a great asset to Nationalist forces. The Soviet Union would probably be provoked into stepping up their aid to Mao drastically and I think that without more ground troops to cover the losses from Nationalist defections and their disintegrating forces, they still would’ve lost the war - they’d just inflict more casualties and perhaps organize a larger exodus to Taiwan.

Yes.

Minsicule. The huge US bomber fleets of WW2 were mostly a memory by 1947-48, the initial slow pace of demobalization had affected the 1946 elections and in response it had flipped and masssive demob had occured.

See above.

Take a look at the effects in Korea 2-3 years later. The Chinese Red Army took seriously the lessons learned by the German army 1944.

1. Move at night

2. Camouflage & conceal.

Then there is this...

We lucked out in Korea. There was a air force already based in range in Japan. However unready there was a base with airfields, storage, and partial personnel functioning. The ability to fly in a operate off Chinese AF bases would have been problematic. personnel & equipment would have had to be organized and moved in to sustain significant operations. The USN would have some capability along the coast, but thats neither large nor efficient for sustained operations.
