America: The Largest Nation on Earth!!

ON TO CANADA!!!

As we know during the war of 1812, the United States launched a successful invasion of the region formerly known as Canada led by Andrew Jackson. The treaty of Ghent was signed in 1813 and Great Britain ceded all claims in N America aside from Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, which would later be bought by America in 1820. After the war, the territories were reorganized into the Franch Region now called Napoleon, and the English speaking region renamed Monroe territory. Both would not achieve statehood until the end of the Mexican war.

Polk's Wet Dream

The war with Mexico had been longer than anticipated. While the US enjoyed victory after victory the Mexican government refused Polk's insistence on absolute defeat. American forces continued their advance from Mexico City South, defeating any resistance. In late 1848 Mexico surrendered unconditionally. The US annexed all of Mexico and granted citizenship to all Mexicans of Spanish descent with full civil rights.

MAXIMUM OVEREXTENSION

Anyway, annex Greenland (and iceland and jan mayen too for completeness sake because theyre closesto to greenland which is why i consider them north america)

Have you played EU4? If you haven’t, Mingsplosion is where China Balkanized into dozens of weak states, probably because of bad management and overextension. This will be an Americsplosion. Mexicans won’t take kindly to being controlled by unfriendly Anglo Protestants, nor will the Quebecois. IMO, the best way for America to surpass Russia is Canada in the Revolution, and later a few Mexican states. Maybe add Greenland.

That is a problem - America was founded by literal Protestant equivalents of Wahhabis, and the influence stayed for quite some time. I doubt they'll want to annex any more of Mexico than they did already

The Vice President, the Secretary of State, Secretary of the Treasury and a large and growing faction in the Senate, increasingly dominant in the Northern states and having split the South, were in favor of annexing Mexico. Mexican Federalists, one of the two Pre-War factions in Mexican society, were also supportive. Numerous accounts also suggest the wealthy, which typically sided with the Centralists from what I understand, were also in favor of Mexican annexation.

Mexican annexation is a lot more likely than it gets credit for here.

Respectfully disagreed.

William Tecumseh Sherman: Mexico's Satan

After finally subduing the Confederate States, Lincoln turned the armies attention to the Mexcian Separatists in the far south. General Tecumseh Sherman landed outside of Veracruz with a force of 30,000 soldiers, as another force subdued forces in northern Mexico. Just as Sherman had done to the Confederates in Georgia he launched a tactic of scorch and burn. Burning the estates of the elites who sided with the separatists and in some case hanging them. After capturing Vera Cruz his forces moved inward toward Mexico city on a campaign of fire and brimstone. On January 30th 1866 with Mexico City surrounded the Mexican Separatists surrendered and thus ended the great American Civil War.

The war left over three-quarters of a million dead and had greatly worsened British-American relations when it was discovered Great Britain had secretly supplied arms to the Mexican Separatists. A decision which would later doom the British Empire.

Alright, I'll do it. Why have no one stated how asb this TL is... I mean if someone writes the same stuff about Byzantium / Nazi Germany or Greenland people will immediately complain.

Is it because its America or there's some inside joke im missing

To OP : Every TL has someone who complain its asb, ignore this comment and keep on the good work.

Yeah this TL us a little silly. While the idea of the US taking more land after the Mexican war and war of 1812 are within the realm of likely possibilities, I'm taking this timeline to the extreme and ignoring the "most realistic scenario".

Jamestown predated Plymouth by 13 years.

Reality would have a POD in the ARW
US able to capture forts Niagara, Eerie, and Detroit.

In Peace of Paris, USA keeps OTL southern Ontario (upper Canada)

USA has better relations with Britain in early 1800's and is able to obtain more or all of otl Canada minus Que and the Maritimes through negotiations , purchase, and treaty.

The trick to gathering more territory in the Carribean or Mexico is the relations between the whole free soil slavery debate which brought the end to manifest destiny.

But it is not feasible that more northerners would be ok with annexing areas in the Caribbean where slavery already existed like in Cuba.

For Mexico, realistic annexation would be otl plus Chihuahua and Sonora and Baja Cali.

Would western Canada, northwest Mexico, and Cuba make USA largest land area in world? It would be right there with Russia. With Ont industry, more mining out west, USA economy would be that much larger.

It just might. Would suck for CFL football though.
