America lose Cold war

Eh... In OTL, they did, I doubt it would be different...
(Depend on what you means by 'stalinism', of course)

Well, they did move away from Stalinism in our timeline, but that was a temporary thing initially, and nearly did not happen. HeavyWeaponsGuy is right here. In the ATL, there is no reason to move away from Stalinism.

Well we're talking about getting rid of the system, there were some strains of reform in the USSR under Khrushchev he just handled a few of them rather poorly. There exists a window between his rule and Brezhnev's though in which to continue liberalizing Soviet policy though.

Interesting counterpoint. To it though, I must respond that Khrushchev's rise was far from a sure thing, and that there are presumably Stalinist parties governing in Western Europe almost necessitating that the USSR walk the line.

Well if Khruschev can insist that some of these leaders (like the Stalinist Matyas Rakosi in Hungary) "need treatment in Moscow", I can't see why he can't do it for a few more.

Be it trolling for trout or bullhead, is immaterial. I have a book (at least I hope I still have it) called Privateer, by Ben Bova, and it deals with a Soviet victory in the Cold War, but in terms of space travel. The Gulag System extended to the moon too.
