Alternative United Nation HQ Location

I like Stockholm - but also I like Ireland. It was neutral during the war and acted with dignity (true it didn't directly border a nation ruled by a violent psychopath). It is also geographically between Europe and the Americas.

Actually now I think of it for geographic reasons Iceland would make a lot of sense and it has a lot more infrastructure then somewhere like the Azores.

Nuremburg. It's a symbolic city to the defeated Axis, and is also a cultural center. It's also a major part of the European transportation network.

Like sending a condolences telegram for Hitler's death? Or treating those who fought the Nazis as criminals?

There's no denying Eamonn DeValera is a douche...

Well, the more egocentric side of me would say Hong Kong or Toronto :)D), but seriously, I think Istanbul and Jerusalem looks attractive for symbolic values (non-Eurocentric, for one).

Here's something from wikipedia that I thought was interesting:

The island of Niʻihau was considered as a possible location for the United Nations headquarters in 1944 by Franklin D. Roosevelt. Roosevelt had visited Hawaiʻi in 1934.Under Cordell Hull, Roosevelt's Secretary of State, the State Department seriously studied the proposal.
Interesting, but IMO a bit small, I'd have gone for Kaua'i myself, still apart from the other big islands, but with at least a decent local population and rather more infrastructure.
