Alternative Mandates

Perhaps a well treaded topic, but what if there were difference in the structures of Mandates at the end of WWI, those in charge of them, or areas under the control of the League of Nations or occupied by Entente powers?


As a start, what American mandates had been suggested? I have read over the years of diplomats suggesting Palestine, Armenia and the Straits (to be expanded to the remainder of Turkey), a portion of German East Africa, and the Levant in general. The last according to polls taking by Arabs who thought the Americans the most likely to get out. Anymore information on the subject?

For America to get LoN mandates, America has to join the LoN...

Apparently part of the reason for not joining was how the British and French ignored US opinion on the mandates. I'm looking more for information on plans or opinions some gave though, such as how Belgium, the United States, or Anglo-French would get Palestine as a Mandate.
