alternate role #1
Adolf Hitler (April 20, 1889- July13, 1972) was a German painter, writer, political theorist, and anti-war agitator.
Born in Braunau-am Inn, Austria, both of his parents died when he was very young, and at the age of 18 he was accepted into The Art Academy of Vienna, a Jewish run academy that was considered among the finest academies in Europe.
Young Hitler flourished at the academy. His paintings ran the gamut from Impressionistic works to Renaissance inspired scenes from Jewish history.
It is unclear when Hitler first started to drink alcohol, but while he was at the Academy he began to show the first signs of a problem that would plague him later in life.
Upon graduation, he found himself forced to register for service in the Austrian military, as was customary for men his age. Young Adolf bucked his service by fleeing to Munich, Germany, but was extradited back to Austria, which then judged him to be "unfit for military service."
When the Great War broke out in 1914, Hitler returned to Munich, where he enlisted in a Bavarian army regiment. His unit was sent to France, where Adolf would earn several medals, including an Iron Cross First Class and an Iron Cross Second Class for his service as a dispatch runner. Although he loathed the war morally, he seemed to find artistic inspiration in it; his paintings of the Western Front's bleak, morose nature are some of the most stark, realistic and haunting images of the war. From ordinary soldiers eating meals, to the savagery of a week-long artillery bombardment, his images of WWI are some of the best known in the world. He seemed to develop his liking of Jews during this period; his CO as well as the officer who pushed through his medal recommendation were both Jewish.
After Germany's defeat in 1918, Adolf Hitler decided that he wanted to re-enter the world of Academia, this time as an instructor at the Academy were he matriculated. But the academy had been hit hard by the war, and was forced to close.
Returning to Germany, he decided to open his own art academy in his adopted hometown of Munich.
(OOC: I'll finish this when I have more time.)
