Alternative Communist symbols in different countries

OTL the most well-known Communist symbol is the hammer and sickle (below), which was chosen because Russia at the time was a largely agrarian and not very industrialised culture - sickle for the peasant farmers, hammer for the manual workers.

Other Communist countries changed this to fit their own cultures and situations. For instance, East Germany, with more of a tradition of a left-leaning intelligentsia, replaced the sickle with a set of compasses to represent this:

Similarly, the symbol used in North Korea is a hammer and sickle (of Korean design) with a paintbrush to represent the intelligentsia.

Angola uses a crossed machete and hoe (on the coat of arms) or a machete and cogwheel (on the flag) for similar reasons.

So, based on all this, what Communist symbols do you think would have been used in other countries if they had somehow gone Communist in OTL?

Thinking about the USA for example, one thought I had was a gearwheel and cotton-gin, representing the industrial north and the agricultural south.

Good question Thande. One time a couple years ago me and my friend were messing around with the American flag. He had the idea that you could have the American flag with red black and white with an iron cross where the stars are. My theory was to keep everything except where the stars were there was a cogwheel and grain in white. Just an idea but it looked kinda cool.

Who had the AK 47 on their flag, and shouldn't the RPG-7 and the tank get a flag? How about animals? Camels, lamas, horses, oxes, dog... or more symbolical like rats or snakes?

I could imagine a flag with the communist leader holding a smal girl and a boy in the hands walking toward a pair of houses, maybe a dog playing at the side.

i hate flags i cant draw.

so what would said country use as its practical flag? (u gota paint something on tanks.)

Perhaps a Communist British symbol could be Britannia carrying a hammer, with a red star on her shield?

Obligatory Scouse Version: The Liver Bird holding a dock-rope in its beak, clutching a hammer in its talons, something like the Hammer & Dove (actually the symbol of the Communist Party of Britain, funnily enough).

I once tried to think up a symbol for what Mussolini would use for an Italian Communist party: I was wondering if there was any convienient symbol from ancient Rome to represent the plebian class or any workers or slave revolts (Spartacus, etc) he would use?

I would think this would work well.

A cog-gear would be a good symbol for the USA, since it was a simple design for representing industry. It could be combined with any of several symbols to represent agriculture - a cotton gin, an ear of corn, a sheaf of wheat, or it could be combined with another symbol of industry.

I've also always thought that an AH Communist USA would keep the blue field with white stars for the states, but would replace the red and white stripes with an all-red field (white being a "reactionary" color) with the appropriate symbols in yellow.

How about maps, at least for countries that look cool on maps. Maybe even incoperate parts of other countries....
