Cross-posting from Photos from Alt Worlds because I think this statue definitely counts as propaganda, in more ways than one (thanks to the graffiti).
"This oft-vandalized equestrian statue of the Republican Union's "First Chief Consul," G. A. Custer, has a long history. First erected by his adopted son Joseph in the 1920s following his death, it survived multiple wars and conflicts. Despite efforts to scrub the old Union's propaganda from the streets, this statue was left standing for "historical value." In 1989, an arsonist set it on fire, which was barely put out in time. It became an ugly scar on the community of Gibson, New York, after neo-Unionite skinheads used it to hold an illegal rally in 2003, which resulted in riots. In 2009, it was finally removed and taken to a war museum in Virginia."

Again, this isn't canon Madness, I'm just having fun with it.
