Alternate world Propaganda

The German helmet in my opinion would be quite unlikely unless the POD was much, much further as the one used in WW2 in OTL was based on the one from WW1 which itself was a somewhat simplified picklehaub. so for the French to have suddenly adopted their ancestral enemy's headgear would be a bit odd.

Maybe a simplified version of the cuirassier helmet for the soldiers ? (quick sketch below).

well the POD is in 1901, so theoretically the French could have developed the Stalhelm first, theoretically. and plus it just looks better with the Fascist "look", and I just like it better.

that looks too Medieval to me. personally.

another idea, the runes used by the nazi were part of the volkish movement and had no historicity in france so for the Service de Sécurité, instead of 2 sieg runes, what about 2 interlaced "S" in a manner similar to that used for the cypher of the kings of France ?

Up to you but the stalhelm, as I said, was a development on the pickelhaub so that would mean that either the French adopted that (unlikely) or that the stahlhelm design sort of popped out spontaneously in France with disregard to the helmets previously worn. The ridge I included is, after all, just a more exaggerated version of the one on the Adrian helmet.

I like this, it looks good, it looks creepy like the Nazi Sieg Runes, and it has historical basis in France (like the Rooster standing in for the Eagle)

I like it, nice find! :)

I am just going to have to go with that, a French designer came up with the idea before the Germans did. is what I will go with basically.

for the fascist france timeline, I thought that since Miss whatsittoya is sticking close to OTL nazi that the insignia of the atl SS could similiarly be inspired by their OTL counterpart.

The more lozenge shape is based on those used by the French uniform services *here*, the number of rank and their design is based on those of the Police Nationale (which is its closest equivalent and was founded during Vichy era so seem to fit) and the rank titles are based on the SS though adapted to make them sound more natural to a francophone.

All of this discussion about fascist French symbolism makes me wonder about fascist American symbolism. What would the American "SS" uniforms and insignia look like?

That's the idea I gave above, maybe remove the crest and lower the neckguard.

The helmet based on the Napoleonic cuirassier helmet, it'd look better with the crest removed or made very slight, the neckguard lowered a bit and a shortened form of the front protrusion (don't know the term for it).

I don't like it for the French Fascists, it's too medieval and it just doesn't my image of them from my TL.

I know it's historical French headgear. but it doesn't look Fascist enough... and my TL already had established the French using some form of the Stalhelm.

It'll look more Stahlhelm like with just a few adjustments like I said, let's just see what it looks like when Marc Pasquin does those, then we can judge if it's Fascist enough I think.
