Quebec's 2014 election (held today!) in True North.

So are the Democrats no longer described as liberal? Does US political terminology actually align with the rest of the world ITTL?

Also, would they continue to do two-letter state abbreviations when there are several hundred states?

Liberal and conservative is still used in a general sense to those who support the neo-New Deal and those who don't, but it's a bit more nuanced than that with the broad, big tent of the parties.

I've managed to just barely squeak through with what I have so far, but at this point, some aren't making sense so I'm just going to have to bit the bullet and go with a three letter system.

Wait, social democracy? I thought they would still be on progressivism and not move further left.

They support full employment, a welfare state, nationalization of certain industries and labor rights. that's all before getting into the weird technocratic guided economy and corporate bodies managing individual industries via unions.

Ehm, libertarian socialism refers to anarcho-communism, not some kind of social democracy.

The libertarian socialists in the Democratic Party call for a decentralized, localist system where industry is operated and managed by local unions and worker's councils, and operate as a tendency within the broad, big tent of the Democratic Party.

That's pretty cool!

The factories themselves are financed and sell the complete goods to larger holding companies, effectively operating as franchises that are employee-owned. The government provides full employment and welfare, funded largely through land value taxes with low-ish taxes across the board. Public utilities are nationalized through a mix of public power districts and government-owned corporations like the TVA, while other industries are guided by the State Planning Commission. The make work and infrastructure projects are funded and coordinated by the federal government, but also more regional agencies, but are effectively controlled by local assemblies that in many places are controlled by local political machines that provide (non-union) jobs to the unemployed and ethnic/racial minorities. It works for now, but only because of near constant expansion, production and consumption.

All economic systems (unless there are dramatic changes) rely on those things so all in all it seems pretty good. Kind of reminds me of how the national socialists in SoaP did things.

Where I left off they hadn't taken power. How do you know that?

Obviously he's an AU version of you. Think about it. 6 characters in the name, ending with numbers, 3 words in the user title, joined in 2010, have over 1,000 posts. Ignoring the fact you live on diffrent continents and are nothing alike, it makes perfect sense.

(Don't mind the autograph since the "h" there could also be "g" because it's ambiguous.)
