Ive always been facinated by the idea of a 50-state-landslide for LBJ in 1964, but I dont dont know how that would come about. Maybe a last minute well organized dixiecrat campaign splits the vote in th deep south?
That would be hard because there's just too much for splitting to really work. In Mississippi, Goldwater beat Johnson by 75%, 87%-12%. That's huge. Even in my scenario, that's still Goldwater at 77% and Johnson at just 22%. Cleave Goldwater's vote cleanly in half and both sides would beat Johnson by 16%. Even with an even three way split of Goldwater's vote, the three factions would beat Johnson by three percent. As for Alabama, Goldwater did worse than Mississippi, with just 69% of the vote OTL, but on the other hand, Johnson got zero votes (with the remaining votes going to an unpledged Democratic ticket)

Well, actually, I do think it could be done. Let's say that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 goes further than OTL, maybe contains elements of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and maybe more. Whatever it is, it is enough to provoke Mississippi and Alabama to secede, starting another civil war. Except it's extremely one sided compared to the first civil war, just consisting of those two states declaring secession and then quickly getting crushed. But it occurs shortly the election (and also in this scenario, let's say Johnson is able to at least get himself on the ballot somehow in Alabama too). The Johnson Administration declares that the election will still be held in those states, in areas that are controlled by the US on election day, the Federal advance into the states starts from the black belt areas and fans out from there, and by election day the Feds largely just have black majority areas under their control (and with all the military/law enforcement presence in the area, they are able to prevent voter suppression of the black vote)

Apart from an extreme scenario like that though (which already stretches plausibility), I have a hard time seeing Johnson overcome those huge Goldwater margins in Alabama and Mississippi, even with some split to the Goldwater vote

...maybe there is another alternative though. Change up the GOP primaries/convention, and give Rockefeller the nomination. He still likely does poorly vs Johnson, but could potentially be rather more competitive than Goldwater. Problem is, he was a pro civil rights Republican. So he's potentially even worse than Johnson (who at least was a Democrat and from the South) to southerners. So maybe under those conditions, you could have a situation where the south ends up more of a three way between the GOP, national Dems, and Dixiecrats, where Johnson could manage to just barely win all of them? And as for Rockefeller being stronger outside the south, maybe his divorce and remarriage, which upset conservatives OTL, leads to a weakening of support among the right that helps allow Johnson to win everything. Hell, maybe it could help basically have a Wallace '68 style run 4 years earlier, with Wallace being the Dixiecrat and running outside the south too as the conservative oriented candidate to help cut right-wing support from Rockefeller enough to deny him any states outside the south. Or something vaguely along those lines

World War III, also known as the Second 7 Year's War and the Second Federation-Union War, was fought between late 1965 and 1973. The war was the flash point for the boiling tensions over the world's two major alliances of superpowers, the Imperial Federation and Commune Union. Started thanks to the incompetency of Austro-American foreign minister Don Knotts and owing to Soviet Anger over supposed slights the Austro-American Union had inflicted, the war began with a surprise military assault on the French Naval Base at Tulon. One by one, allies of both sides were dragged in, owing to the complicated network of international politics and web of alliances. The Soviet Union was quick to make a first blow, mobilizing forces against the massing German and Austro-American hordes. Elsewhere, Mexico's inclination to immediately align with the Commune brought the war to North America, with the Austro-Americans now facing a war with British controlled Canada and with their southern neighbor. The United Kingdom also began to carve away at the vast colonial holdings of the Germans and Ottomans. A British offensive into the Levant was only blunted with the controversial atomic bombing of Jerusalem on the orders of General Curtis LeMay. The vast Manchukuo/Qing Empire fought lengthy battles with the Soviets, with nuclear weapons being utilized more tactically here than on any other front of the war. Entire armies would be wiped out with single devices as both sides painfully learned.

At Sea, German and French battleships went muzzle to muzzle with the Royal Navy, with importance given to the English Channel for fear of a cross-channel invasion. While Operation Sea Lion was unshelved from the Second World War, the offensive in mid 1966 was met with monumental failure. Elsewhere, foreign shipping was free game to all sides as submarines prowled the seas, sinking either convoys or individual vessels that foolishly sailed alone. Contrasting with the wetness of the ocean was the dry air and hot deserts of Africa, where french and ottoman troops fought and died side by side in the sands of Africa against their british and Saharan opposites which they battled. With Stalemate in Asia by 1967, a hope to regain the initiative was formulated with attempted landings in Italy by French and Ottoman battle squadrons following the defeat of Italian colonial forces in Tunisia. The landings established the "toehold in Europe" Gaijin Shogun Douglas MacArthur had wanted. Japanese forces fought their way up the boot of Italy. The Soviet Union launched a blistering counterattack in the winter of 1967, forcing German Forces from the Gates of Samsonovgrad to the Baltic States.

The North American Theater of the war was marred with relatively light fighting, save for some concentrated armored offensives by Austro-American forces against massing Mexican and Anglo forces. The British 9th Army, stationed in Toronto, was forced to a humiliating and humbling surrender by an Austro-American force less than half it's size. The Northwestern territories would see bitter guerrilla warfare, though the Canadian theater all but came to a close by the fall of 1968. The Mexican Front went loud in early 1969 when a british nuclear weapon was detonated in the capital Phoenix. A swift retaliation against both Peking and New Delhi only escalated the war. The Caribbean was ripe with pirates from the aptly named Pirate Republic, who had reluctantly forsaken their cherished international neutrality in order to prevent communism from spreading, marked with a fierce jungle campaign against Mexican forces on Cuba, Jamaica and Haiti.

The War is the deadliest in modern geopolitical history, with estimates ranging from one hundred and twenty million killed (80 million military and 40 million civilian) to two hundred million killed.(120 million military and 80 million civilian) The Resulting Treaty of the Congo set forth a period of decolonization for Africa, the dismantlement of the British Empire and the eventual rise of fascism in Manchukuo in response to the Imperial Court's reluctant reforms. One of the smaller winners of the war was the Pirate Republic's monopoly on the sugar industry within the Caribbean. The Soviet Union would remain in place with limited reductions in territorial size. The Ottoman Empire expanded up through the Caucasus, with a boarder threatening the Volga River. The treaty of the Congo was reviled and decried in the defeated nations, with a rapid adoption of populist ideals and far right to far left ideologies. Austrian nationalism also rose, threatening the already strained relations between the Austrians and Americans on the Dual Monarchy, leading to the disbandment of it in 1983. The Ottoman Empire continued it's rise in modern Arabic regional politics, with influence throughout the Hussein regime starting a miniature frozen conflict where nuclear weapons are swapped out for political espionage and intrigue.

"If we do not keep alive the flame of socialism that flame will go out, and every noble ideal will die with it. It is not by force of weapons but by force of ideas that we seek to spread socialism to the world's oppressed. It is not only ideals, but conscience that impels us to do so. Is there conscience in the White House? Do they ever ask themselves what is the purpose of life? What is it all for? No. Their creed is barren of conscience, immune to the promptings of good and evil. To them it is the system that counts, and all men must conform or fall."

thatcher.png
Margaret Hilda Roberts, (13 October 1925 – 3 January 2014) was a Commonwealth politician and scientist. She served as the Commonwealth's Chairwoman of the Science and Technology Council from 1974 to 1978, and later as Minister for Education from 1981 to 1985. She is the mother of Independent Left politician William Roberts-Lewis.

Her parents were Alfred Roberts and Beatrice Ethel (née Stephenson). Her father was initially a Liberal Party supporter and had allegedly been involved with Pro-Government Forces in the British Civil War before being wounded, though this is disputed. Roberts said of her father: 'he was more perceptive than many, he saw no purpose in opposing any new government. My parents were just happy the bloodshed was over'.

She studied chemistry at Oxford University, and worked briefly as a research chemist. As a student, Roberts joined the Communist Party, which then governed the Commonwealth as a one-party state. Despite becoming active in the party, Roberts' civil service career would not begin until the late 60s. From her work in chemistry, she was recommended to Premier Denis Healey to head the Science and Technology Council. Roberts soon became a member of the Commonwealth National Assembly and the Party Policy Bureau.

As Minister of Education, Roberts stressed the importance of 'instilling socialist values and life in the youth of Britain'. She committed to ideological campaigns. continuing policies in accordance with historical and dialectical materialism. Like her predecessors, Roberts emphasised the ideological Commonwealth policy of 'correct education', which omitted programmes of study regarded as 'anti-intellectual' or 'incorrect', this ensured all study aligned with Commonwealth ideals. Roberts worked closely with the then chairman of the Communist Party youth-wing, Norman Tebbit, who was then considered a political ally. As a member of the Commonwealth government, Roberts was present at the Dole-Healey summit, after which American press referred to her as 'Britain's Crimson Lady'.

Under the leadership of George Thomson, Roberts was soon dismissed from her post at the Ministry of Education. She subsequently failed to be reelected to the Policy Bureau in a purge pushed through by Thomson, and stepped down from the civil service and party roles soon afterwards.

An ardent communist, she remained a defender of the legacy of the Commonwealth after its dissolution. She was a member of the short-lived New Coalition, which had split from the English Communist Party after the 1998 presidential election. In 2014, she died of a stroke at her residence in London, at the age of 88.

"Marx's theories gave me a political and intellectual justification for what I believed in a way that nothing else did."
- Neil Kinnock

Neil Gordon Kinnock (born 28 March 1942) is a retired Commonwealth Welsh politician. He served as Chairman of the National
kinnock.png
Assembly of the Welsh SR from 1985 until his resignation in 1993. He was the First Secretary of the Communist Party in Wales from 1987 until its dissolution. After the Commonwealth collapse, Kinnock briefly served as Deputy Prime Minister of Wales in the National Unity Government from 1994 to 1996.

Kinnock was the son of Gordon Herbert Kinnock and Mary Kinnock (née Howells). His father was a coal miner. Kinnock studied at the University of South Wales (Now Cardiff University) where he would meet his future wife, Glenys Parry.

A member of the Communist Party, Kinnock became a member of the National Assembly in 1972, and subsequently the Party Central Committee and Policy Bureau by 1977. He became a rising star in the Welsh regional party, becoming an influential force. He was elected Chairman of the National Assembly of the Welsh Socialist Republic. In consolidating his authority, he was selected as the party's First Secretary in 1987.

A political moderate, Kinnock had stood against both radicals and reformists of the party. Kinnock had hoped to keep reforms to a minimum, believing too much reform in a short period of time endangered the future of the Commonwealth. Kinnock was a close party ally of Premier Denis Healey. His leadership was characterised as promoting a sense of British unity over Welsh culture.

Kinnock initially condemned the idea of Welsh independence, which he stated would lead to 'nothing but grotesque chaos'. After the 1992 demonstrations throughout the BSC and the subsequent Battle of Whitehall, Kinnock concluded that he believed a united British Commonwealth was 'no longer sustainable' regardless of political direction. Initially reluctant to make public statements on the crisis, Kinnock declared that the Communist Party 'had lost all authority and power' in a November 1992 speech. The Welsh Communist Party was subsequently dissolved and declared an illegal organisation. In cooperation with Premier Thomson, Kinnock convinced the National Assembly to approve a referendum on both new free elections and a restructuring of the Welsh government. After the referendum passed in 1993, Kinnock announced his resignation as Chairman. Donald Anderson was elected his successor, who would go on to become the provisional and first president of Wales.

In 1994, Kinnock would return to government in the Welsh Republic, serving as Deputy Prime Minister in a government of national unity. His appointment was controversial, and was criticised in the Welsh press as purely symbolic as the position had little constitutional power. Kinnock would step down after the so-called 'Daffodil Revolution' and 1996 constitutional crisis, and would step down from the National Assembly in the subsequent legislative election.

Kinnock occasionally engages in political commentary. He was a vocal opponent of the presidency of Ronald Davies. Recently, Kinnock has opened up about his time during the Commonwealth era, giving interviews on his political experience.

Roy Stewart Moore (February 11, 1947 - April 19, 2038 ) is an American politician and congressional candidate who served as the former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Alabama, short-lived Chief of Staff for President Ammon Bundy and the first Secretary General for the United States.

Since his early days of political involvement, Moore was notorious for his absolutist conservative political views, establishing connections and endorsements with multiple neo-confederate and white nationalist organisations. During Moore's tenure as circuit judge, he hung a homemade wooden Ten Commandments plaque on the wall of his courtroom behind his bench, and subsequently refused to enforce the removal order the Ten Commandments monument in the rotunda of the Heflin-Torbert Judicial Building, erected in 2001. In conjunction, Moore was widely known for his controversial views on race, homosexuality, transgender people, and Islam, his belief that Christianity should order public policy, and that former President Barack Obama was a muslim. He first grew to national prominence when he was elected the Republican nominee in the 2017 United States Senate special election in Alabama to fill the seat vacated by Jeff Sessions, but lost to Democratic candidate Doug Jones following the emergence of several allegations of sexual misconduct against minors. Although he has fervently denied these allegations, it was enough to reduce his influence in the Republican party for the better half of six years, during which he made three more attempts at vacant electoral seats.

In 2022, Moore began to liaison with Cliven Bundy, instigator of the 2014 Bundy Ranch standoff, after the latter was brought back into the court for refusing to pay parking fines. After the elder Bundy passed, Moore remained in close contact with his two eldest sons, Ammon and Ryan Bundy, touting his influence and experience to assist them in their political ventures. When Ammon entered the 2024 Republican Party Primary and was subsequently selected for the position of Vice President under Senator Josh Hawley, Moore was given the position of advisor. During this time, Moore and the White House gained significant controversy for refusing to divulge what exactly Moore was hired to advise on, and accusations flew back and forward that he was operating as the 'real power' behind the scenes.

Over the following years, Moore was present in various major events in regards to domestic and international policy. In 2025, he was pictured in the White House situation room alongside both President Hawley and Vice President Bundy [8] whilst the cabinet received a briefing on the Sinking of New York. He was also alleged to have subsequently accompanied the President to Yonkers, tho he made no prior camera appearances and his exact actions remain exempt from White House scheduling records. His whereabouts were equally as unaccounted for when Hawley was assassinated by an unidentified gunman on the same day. As Bundy was sworn in as President, Moore was promoted to the position of Chief of Staff during the cabinet reshuffle. Subsequent sources reveal that Moore and Bundy came to repeated confrontations with each other over differences in policy. Just over a year after he was given the position, Moore was encouraged to stand down and replaced by former Press Secretary Lanhee Chen. In spite of this, Moore kept in close confidence with Bundy's brother Ryan, then a congressman and failed candidate for Governor of Nevada.

Eight years later, Moore became a campaign coordinator and speaker during Ryan Bundy's controversial campaign for President in 2036. He was subsequently nominated to the new cabinet position of Secretary of General Affairs, which was previously touted as a department pertaining to "management of sensitive policy implementation and reform in both domestic and international affairs." His confirmation was highly controversial, as the now-aged Moore had made several derogatory accusations against the Democratic members of the Confirmation Panel, using low-level ethnic slurs and accused Ranking Member Frank Bynum of being nothing more than a 'commie bottom-bitch'. Nonetheless, due to new legislation introduced by President Bundy, he was admitted to the office and quickly began introduction of several new policy packages, all of which Bundy signed through with little to no briefing. Sources from inside congress at the time reported that Bundy was treated as nothing more than a puppet, with the General Secretary changing the rules to give himself more and more power.

Adding to his controversial history, Moore was found dead within White House quarters on April 19, 2038. Though the White House barred any information from releasing about his untimely death, several investigative leaks corroborated that Moore's body, cause of death being a heart attack, was found in the interior of a storage closet, with his pants halfway down. The fact that there was a visible hole in the closet's walls, and April 19 was National Take Your Daughter to Work Day, have been marked as details of non-importance by investigators.

1992 Croatian Presidential Election.png

In a world where Stambolić outmaneuvered Milošević and his nationalist ilk, and all constituent countries of Yugoslavia were allowed to choose their fate in peaceful and fair referenda in the early 90s. Due to Račan not Corbyning himself out of a powerful parliamentary position by his timely addressing of Croatian nationalism from a left-wing perspective and the advent of the parliamentary system of government in the first post-socialist constitution, the first free presidential election in the history of Croatia would enter its second round as a contest between Dražen Budiša, representative of the moderate Coalition of People's Accord (KNS) and Franjo Tuđman of the conservative and right-wing Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ).

In the two televised debates between the first and the second round, Budiša routinely hit Tuđman on his noticeable lack of denunciation for the extreme and provocative HSP elements of the Sabor and their constituents as well as his advanced age (with the latter being 70 at the time). Interestingly, despite his purported image as a moderate, Budiša was not endorsed by Jovan Rašković, the leading representative of the Serbian minority (12.2% of the population of Croatia according to the 1991 census) within the young Republic. Instead, Rašković and his Serbian Democratic Party (SDS) would try and gain as many concessions in the SDP-led Croatian Parliament (Hrvatski sabor) in the coming years as they could, all for the interests and preservation of his people.

On November 18th, Ivica Račan handed over his position of caretaker-president to Dražen Budiša, the first democratically elected president in Croatian history. The 1990s seemed to have become a period of hope for the Balkans, as the old conflict between East and West finally took a backseat, with American dominance soon being felt in all corners of what used to be the Second World.

Chokwe Antar Lumumba (March 29, 1983 - ????) is an American attorney, activist and politician who served as the 49th President of the United States from 2033 until his controversial impeachment and removal from office in 2035. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served as a U.S. Governor of Mississippi from 2026 to 2032 and as Mayor of Jackson, Mississippi from 2017 to 2025. His current whereabouts are unknown, and as such authorities are still very much undecided on if he is still active.

Lumumba, like his namesake and late father, Chokwe Lumumba (1947-2014), served as Mayor of his home town of Jackson. Endorsed by Working Families and Our Revolution, he promised to turn Jackson into the 'most radical city on the planet', implementing numerous welfare reforms, restructuring public transport, and being one of the first cities in America to be powered by renewable energy sources. While this took just under ten years, the results were enough to help elect Lumumba governor by a sizeable margin, in spite of the fact that he was a Progressive Democrat in a notoriously Southern State. He was one of the many who spoke the funerals of Senator Bernie Sanders from Vermont, vowing that he and other members of the party would work to make his vision of America a reality.

After winning reelection as Governor in 2030, Lumumba was courted by House Minority Leader Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to run in the upcoming Presidential Election. He accepted, and he quickly became the national frontrunner. On the campaign trail, Lumumba was overtly hostile towards President Ammon Bundy and his choice of the new Secretary of General Affairs, former Attorney General Matt Shea. As part of his platform, Lumumba had promised to abolish the Department of General Affairs altogether. This alarmed members of the incumbent administration, countering that interfering with the status of General Affairs was 'socialist and Un-American'. Once he won the party nomination, House Speaker Adi Sathi announced that the Republican Party had prepared nine articles of impeachment to levy against him, should he be elected.

Come October, Lumumba won handily over Republican nominee Matt Gaetz, winning a plurality in both the Electoral College and the Popular Vote. President Bundy, however, alleged that various swing-state polling stations had been rigged and sought to bring more charges to the already inundated President-elect. During his inauguration, Lumumba survived two seperate assassination attempts, insisting on taking oath in front of the crowd to prove that 'Americans shouldn't be afraid to serve America'. In spite of his wishes, he was pulled off-stage by Secret Service agents when a group of armed Theocratic Supremacists stormed the inaugural stage.

When the now twelve articles of impeachment were successfully passed by the Republican majorities in congress, those charged included Lumumba, Vice President Jacob Frey, Secretary of State Aftab Pureval, Secretary of Defence Matt Duss, Secretary of the Treasury Nomi Prins, Secretary of Energy Varshini Prakash and more than two dozen low-ranking congressional staffers, as well as House Leader Ocasio-Cortez, Senate Minority Leader Lee Carter. For what exactly these individuals were being charged with were never publicly revealed due to new Federal Protocols installed by the former General Secretary. Protests against the alleged coup against the democratically-elected government erupted almost instantly, leading to the deployment of several National Guard units in D.C. and surrounding states. During the concurrent riots in the capitol, the holding cells where breached by protesters and a contingent of Constitutional Militia members. While his cell was reportedly never compromised, Lumumba was nowhere to be found following the building's recapture by Federal Law Enforcement.

Since, various groups have claimed to have both aided in Lumumba’s freeing and also making sure of his continued wellbeing. Officially, the Opposition Government insists that Lumumba has been spirited away across the Canadian Railroad and continues to advise the ‘true government of the United States’ via digital communication. The extremist group FAO, however, says that not only did they free Lumumba themselves, but he has also been the mastermind behind several of the FAO’s most successful campaigns. The Federal Government, of course, says that Lumumba perished in the ensuing combat, and his body was disposed before any autopsy (or any real evidence) could be confirmed. Sightings of Lumumba are ongoing as of the present day.

2006 Israeli Election with Sharon.PNG

Elections for the 17th Knesset were held in Israel on 28 March 2006. The voting resulted in a plurality of seats for the then-new Kadima party, followed by the Labor Party, and a major loss for the Likud party. After the election, the government was formed by the Kadima, Labor, and Meretz parties, with Ariel Sharon, leader of Kadima, continuing to serve as Prime Minister as he had done prior to the election.

Crystal Lite is an American brand of methamphetamine-fortified cigarettes, owned and manufactured by Morley Tobacco. Lubbock, Texas, is the location of the largest Crystal Lite manufacturing plant. It is the global-best selling methamphetamine cigarette brand since its inception, and has a market share of 15% in the United States.

Methamphetamine was legalized at the federal level in 2056, during the lame-duck period of the Hayakawa administration. It remained illegal at the state-level in many states, but several followed the federal government's example, including California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, and Texas. Morley Tobacco was the first tobacco company to take advantage of federal and state-level legalization, and released a methamphetamine-fortified cigarette brand in 2057. The niche market was modestly profitable for the early years of its existence.

However, the brand became significantly more popular in the aftermath of the WWIII. Many returning veterans of the trenches in China and the USSR suffered from amphetamine dependencies and addictions, due to the heavy use of combat amphetamine cocktails utilized by the infantry and other combat arms units. Crystal Lite marketed itself heavily to this demographic, and sales climbed steadily through 2076, 2077, 2078, and 2079.

I might be having a stroke, but I think I also remember amphetamine-laced Crystal Lite cigarettes from the Objectivist Katanga TL ages and ages ago.
