This stems from my own hypothetical timeline about if America went monarchist following the Revolutionary War, something that's always intrigued me. I should make clear that Philadelphia is not independent of the UEC, but rather its own state, run directly by the Marquis and the Council of Patriots.

Ariana Grande as a leading religious figure?!? Excuse me while I ROFL...

The Man Dressed in Brown
Malcolm Reynolds
was a soldier, smuggler and revolutionary best known for his role in the 26th century Stellar Revolution (sometimes also called the Second Browncoat Uprising, Reynolds' Revolution and the Second Unification War). Reynolds was born on the outer world of Shadow and raised on a ranch. Reynolds would grow up relatively well-enough-while by no means educated on the level of the average core world, the ranch he grew up in was one of the more prosperous ones. Reynolds developed a strong religious faith during this time and, as tensions between the core and outer worlds grew, became increasingly sympathetic to the separatist cause. When the outer worlds seceded, Reynolds would join the Browncoats and participate in a number of battles as a part of the 57th Overlanders Brigade. Reynolds fought in the Battles of Du-Khang, New Kashmir, Sturges and Serenity Valley, the final fight of the war.

Reynolds was left disillusioned and faithless by the Browncoat defeat in the Unification War, which also claimed the lives of several close friends in the separatist forces. Banding together with his lieutenant Zoe Alleyne, Reynolds would begin the life of a smuggler, purchasing a Firefly-class ship he dubbed the Serenity and spending eight years engaging in petty crime. However, this would change in 2518, where Reynolds played a key role in revealing the UAP's disastrous experiments on the planet Miranda and the resulting creation of the scourge known as the Reavers that the Alliance had covered up. The backlash to this revelation was swift and intense and uprisings broke out not only on a number of outer worlds, but even on some core worlds. Many of the rebel leaders contacted Reynolds in an attempt to make him the leader of the rebel forces-a role he was purportedly reluctant to assume. However, after some persuasion by members of his crew, Reynolds accepted the role as de facto leader of the Compact of Free Worlds.

Reynolds was by all accounts a rather hands-on leader, taking the Serenity to various worlds in order to bolster rebel forces. Reynolds' support helped dislodge Alliance holdouts on several outer worlds and helped ferry reinforcements into the rebellious sectors of the core. By 2526, the UAP had lost control of several inner worlds including Higgins' Moon, Jiangyin, Beaumonde and Ariel. However, pockets of pro-Compact rebels had been crushed on a number of core worlds, including Londinium and Sihnon, the two capitals of the UAP. While the Compact had numbers on their side, the UAP forces remained better trained and better equipped. Reynolds consequently came up with a bold gambit aimed at taking down the UAP for good.

The bulk of the Compact fleet was dispatched towards Sihnon en masse, ostensibly with the goal of taking control of the planet. The UAP dispatched the bulk of its defenses towards Sihnon to intercept the invaders, while crucial leaders on the planet were temporarily evacuated towards Londinium. However, on April 5th, a small, but well-armed fleet headed by the Serenity struck Londinium, bypassing a number of core worlds on the way. Planetary defenses were raised, but despite the efforts of the remaining Alliance forces, the Compact fleet was able to enter the planet's atmosphere and targetted the capital district. The anti-spacecraft defenses were sparser than normal, as many had been sent to Sihnon to defend the planet and thus the Compact forces were able to land on the surface. Reynolds personally led Compact forces in storming the Central Directorate, the building where the core leadership of the UAP was holed up. A brutal firefight ensued between the guards and the Compact's forces, but ultimately the latter were able to seize control of the building.

However, Reynolds himself did not make it into the Central Directorate-he was fatally wounded by a UAP security officer. The leadership of the Compact was passed on to Simon Tam, a key political advisor to Reynolds. Tam would go on to accept the surrender of the surviving UAP leadership and preside over the establishment of the new Compact of Free Worlds confederal governing structure. Reynolds himself remains a generally revered figure in the known 'Verse and monuments to him can be found on a number of planets.

1992 Infobox.PNG

The 1992 United States presidential election was the 52nd quadrennial presidential election. It was held on Tuesday, November 3, 1992. Republican President George Bush defeated Democratic Governor Bill Clinton and a number of minor candidates.

Bush had alienated many of the conservatives in his party by breaking his 1988 campaign pledge against raising taxes, but he fended off a primary challenge from conservative commentator Pat Buchanan. Bush's popularity after his success in the Gulf War dissuaded high-profile Democratic candidates like Mario Cuomo from entering the 1992 Democratic primaries. Clinton, a leader of the centrist Democratic Leadership Council, established himself as the front-runner for the Democratic nomination by sweeping the Super Tuesday primaries. He defeated former and future Governor of California Jerry Brown, former Massachusetts Senator Paul Tsongas, and other candidates to win his party's nomination, and chose Senator Al Gore as his running mate. Billionaire Ross Perot launched an independent campaign, emphasizing his opposition to the North American Free Trade Agreement and his plan to reduce the national debt, however dropped out in June citing personal reasons.

Both major candidates focused on the economy and pledging recovery from the ongoing recession. While Clinton had maintained a large lead over Bush throughout the summer, the race significantly narrowed in September. The Bush campaign questioned Clinton's character and scrutinized his promises for both the economy and foreign policy.

Bush would win both the electoral vote and popular vote by narrow majorities. Clinton managed to make inroads in the American South and the West, however lost ground in the Midwest as Bush managed to flip Wisconsin from Democratic to Republican. Bush also managed to hold some northeastern states, however became the first Republican to win a presidential election while losing Vermont.

Bureau for Wealth and Public Equity

file_002.png

The Bureau for Wealth and Public Equity is a bureaucratic agency responsible for collecting capital levies for the purpose of wealth redistribution. The Bureau maintains statistics on wealth distribution in the United States, and uses predetermined formulas to estimate new wealth caps, as well as universal basic incomes. It is a separate agency from the Internal Revenue Service and other budgetary agencies in order to maintain its independence and focus. The real reason was likely to create a new powerful arm of the federal government that could be easily staffed by those loyal to Huey Long.

The initial plan for the body was for it to be established as a committee of prominent businessmen - Ford, Rockefeller, Melon, etc. - that would direct smaller state corporations as how to redistribute wealth. However, it soon became clear that none of the men that Long had suggested were interested in aiding his legislative agenda. The final form of the WPE was closer to that of a New Deal era alphabet soup agency, with the body having sweeping executive power. Its power was challenged in the courts, much like the NRA of the Roosevelt era was. When the Supreme Court had effectively vacated the powers granted the WPE, Long followed the example of another populist Andrew Jackson and decided to ignore it, leaving the agency in tact. To this day, it is one of the most powerful and well-funded bureaucratic agencies of the federal government.

Gerald L.K. Smith, first head of the Share Our Wealth Society served as its first director, from 1941 up until his assassination in 1953. The building which houses the main national offices is named for him. Alan Finkel, appointed by Democratic President Helen Marshall, is currently the Director, and will likely conclude his term in 2021.

An Idea I had in my head inspired by Wayside's post about the socialist trans warlord, so I opted to think about a right wing politician turning into a longstanding dominant dictatorship. As for why you can clearly see that Dupont clearly has not only a majority but also won his seat, Hakkon worked out a deal with the far religious right Warcry of the Gods to cause terrorist attacks on election day.

The resulting chaos was enough to have the flustered Red Alliance coalition of leftist parties narrowly agree to appoint Hakkon as the Administrative President, with Dupont being the Chief of the Church to ensure a happy Mormon population within the country. If you have any questions about this, feel free to ask as always and I will get back to you whenever I can.

Lilly Thomas

apd_015.png
Lilly Mae Thomas (née Wilson) is an English politician serving as Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries since 2018, and leader of the Centre Party since 2016. The daughter of Joseph Wilson, an MP for the agrarian Countryside Alliance before it became the Centre Party, Thomas grew up as she said, "in a life defined by politics." Her work in the party started at a young age, with her leading a round of the song "The Land" at party conference at the age of 12. She matriculated at Oxford in 2004, studying at Jesus College. Following the completion of her studies, she became active in Young Centre before being selected as a candidate for Flydale North in 2010, losing to an insignificant Labour backbencher. Two years later, she got the chance to be selected for a safe seat in North Somerset, where she currently represents.

Her launch into stardom was a surprise, even to her. In late 2015, then leader of the Centre Party Winston Beasley had suffered a heart attack, and announced that he would step down as leader following a leadership election. The two leading candidates Norman Cameron and Eliot Parks were soon caught up in personal scandal, the last thing needed for a party that was bleeding its largely rural base to the right-wing Union Party after losing confidence in Beasley's leadership. Thomas, who many had believed entered the race only to raise her own profile, managed to position herself as the one to restore confidence in the party and move it forward. She surprised many by making it to the final round, and won in a landslide with 62% of the party faithful.

As leader, she has done much to win back the Centre Party's traditional base by emphasizing the need for tariffs for the protection of British products as well as promising to expand rural utilities. She also has spoken to cultural issues, which some commentators have snidely called her "Green and Pleasant" Campaign. He efforts have since paid off, as her party have picked up 23 seats in the 2018 election, almost all at the expense of the Union Party. Having entered a coalition with the centre-right National Party, she was made Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries.

Here's one: Iran Contra coverage is delayed until halfway through '88. Bush looks a lot worse. On the Dem side, Dukakis dies, Bentsen selects a popular mayor from Vermont to counterbalance with hokey small-town charm, only to die himself and leave said mayor the nominee. Perot is also there, annoyed that it's either Socialism Lite or No New Taxes.

Young Bernie looks weirdly like Jordan Peterson.

Quick question guys, if I posted a wikibox based on the recent Joker movie, would that count as a spoiler or has enough time passed already?
