Columbia General Election 2016
The schedule of Columbian elections is basically on par with the OTL USA. The first general election was in 1788 after the American Revolution that saw the Nations of Virginia and Columbia rise from the British 13 colonies. The Southern and Northern delegations to the Constitutional convention in discussions about independence from Britan had disagreements over what system of government was the best for the proposed American Nation. The south wanted a republic and the Northen delegations for stability decided on a Constitutional Monarchy in a bid for stability in a tumultuous time on the American continent. The agreement was set that the Southern delegations in support of a Republic, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia form their own nation. The name adopted was Virginia named after the northernmost colony of Virginia. For the remaining colonies, they formed the Constitutional Monarchy of Columbia based off of the name of Christopher Columbus, some important Italian dude. With the death of Washington just near the turn of the century Washington's stepson took over as king sparking some question to the line of succession. The decision was made by the House of Commons and Washington the II to hand over the Throne to the house of Hamilton lead by then PM Alexander Hamilton. It was an overall popular decision. They ruled until the 1980s when it became clear that Mary I was going to have no Direct heirs when the Government in Conjunction with the Queen decided that when the Monarch died the throne would be handed to Caroline Kennedy, Son of former Prime minister John Kennedy, Caroline. This moving of houses to popular political families has kept the monarchy Popular over the years with support for abolition hovering around 20%. Moving on to 2012 Hillary Clinton's SFL government was defeated by Susan Collin's PC after a mediocre second term. The SFL had a hotly contested leadership race and the victor, Bernie Sanders a longtime backbench MP from Vermont, came from behind to win the leadership. This was met with backlash from the Conservative wing of the party but bring in great support from the now disintegrating Greens. By January 2016 Sanders Promises to Improve the lagging Columbian National Rail system and to Rebuild infrastructure was gaining great support. The PC's Campaign consisted of a Growing economy and a Centre Of the Road approach to social issues. Although the age of the two possible PMs turned off a lot of young voters to the growing Libertarian party headed by Justin Amash or not voting to signal a downturn in turnout. The 3 debates hosted in Chicago, Detroit and the Royal Capital, New York, Showed slim victories for Susan Collins which saw the race tighten. However, on the Night the SFL won a Comfterble majority while losing a lot of its rural Support. On the 13th of December Mr, Bernie Sanders was asked to form a government by Queen Caroline and was sworn in as Prime Minister. Susan Collins shortly stepped down after her 10-year reign of the party although not leaving and the Leadership election saw Todd Young come in as PC leader. the SFL Government rides high in approval but the PC may have enough to steal that majority that the SFL has in 2020.

I wanna see what you can do with a Canadian election with deadmau5 as a candidate. I think he would probably be a liberal. I don’t care if it’s super ASB.

XFL GON GIVE IT TO YA

CuiC87c.png

The XFL or second XFL is a professional American football league in the United States. It is the second such league of this name, the first having folded after one season in 2001. The XFL and all of its teams are owned entirely by Vince McMahon's Alpha Entertainment. The XFL was the brainchild of McMahon, who was also Chairman of WWE in addition to being the founder of Alpha Entertainment. The league was formed primarily as a response and alternative to the NFL, the premier American football league in the United States. The XFL introduced several rule and format changes to address perceived problems of the NFL as well as to experiment with new ideas. Despite predictions to the contrary, the inaugural season of the XFL was successful, unlike the original XFL, which folded after one unsuccessful season. The success was attributed to eliminating the wrestling-esque features that original XFL had, having better quality of play, and the innovative streaming platform, XFL Live. The success of the first season, which ended with the San Diego Bolts winning the XFL Cup, meant the league would return for a second season in 2021. Although the XFL is a football league, it has been compared favorably to MLS, as both leagues have a similar structure and size.

THE GAMES
The eleven-week, 40 game season had each of the 8 teams play 10 games, 5 at home and 5 away. Every Sunday, four (or three during bye-weeks) games would be played, one right after the other. The games were initially scheduled at 1:00 PM, 3:30 PM, 6:00 PM, and 8:30 PM (Eastern Time), though they frequently ran over, leading to 10 additional minutes being added to times to change the schedule to 1:00, 3:40, 6:20, and 9:00. The early games were usually East home games, while the late games were West home games. The XFL touted the shorter length of games (compared to NFL games), which was achieved by reducing the play clock to 35 seconds from 40 as in the NFL (previously utilized in the first XFL), and playing quarters with fewer ad breaks. Instead, ads were placed on the jerseys and the sidelines and there were longer ad breaks between quarters and the halves.
Another change from the original XFL was the addition of better announcers, ones who were not tied to wrestling and instead offered serious football commentary.
All XFL games were available exclusively on the XFL Live site and app. Viewers could pay one-time fee or buy a monthly or season-long subscription to see all games in the time period they paid for. However, viewers living in XFL markets would be able to see their teams playing home games for free. Viewers would be able to switch between camera angles for games they paid for. Subscribers could rewatch the games whenever they wanted. As the season continued, the networks express interested in carrying some of the games. A deal was reached for the games of the last three weeks and the playoffs to be aired on NBC and CBS, with the networks alternating which time slots they would air each week.
Numerous rule changes were implemented, compared to standard American football. There was a 35 second play clock, 5 seconds shorter than the NFL's 40 seconds. There were no kickoffs. Instead, "Schiano proposal" was implemented, where the team kicking off had the ball at their own 30 on 4th and 15. The point-after-touchdown kick was eliminated. Instead, teams would do what was called the two-point conversion in regular rules, but it was only worth one point. If teams successfully converted, they would be allowed to kick for one additional point. Like the original XFL, the new XFL employed the college overtime rules, where each team had one possession and only four downs to score.

THE TEAMS

The original eight teams of the second XFL

The XFL started with eight teams, four in the East and four in the West. Three of the teams were located in cities that had recently lost NFL teams (San Diego, Oakland, and St. Louis), while three were put in cities that housed teams in the original XFL (East Rutherford, Birmingham, Orlando). Two more teams were put in locations without a history of professional football teams (Hartford and San Antonio). The first three teams announced were the San Diego Bolts, St. Louis Stallions, and Birmingham Vulcans. These three teams were able to secure stadiums for the 2020 season the fastest. The Humpbacks, Generals, Orange Rush, and Buzztails were announced one month later in April 2019. The final team announced was the Oakland Outlaws, a team that had long been rumored but not confirmed due to difficult finding a stadium. Unable (or perhaps unwilling) to secure the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, home of the soon-to-be departing Oakland Raiders, the Outlaws got temporary residence at California Memorial Stadium, home of the Golden Bears.
When picking locations for the teams, the focus was on cities with large media markets that either didn't have an NFL team or had recently lost them. Additionally, the cities had to have football stadiums with a capacity of 30,000 to 70,000. The larger NFL or college football stadiums were not considered due to concerns about attendance and sales. However, the Generals played in the large MetLife Stadium, with a capacity exceeding 80,000. Football stadiums were preferred to baseball or soccer venues.
Each of the 8 teams had 40-man rosters. The majority of players were college players who went undrafted and unsigned in the NFL or NFL back up players and free agents. Many hyped players such as Johnny Manziel and Tim Tebow did not come to the XFL, with the former going to the CFL and the latter staying in baseball. Indeed, most of the XFL players were virtual unknowns, a problem that plagued the the league in the early weeks. However, the players (on the good teams) were brought together by good coaching and became stars in their own right. The coaches were mostly retired college or NFL coaches, with a few coaches leaving their jobs in college or the NFL to come to the XFL. Special emphasis was placed by the league on having good coaches to make the teams succeed.

THE EAST
The Birmingham Vulcans were named after Vulcan, the Roman god and symbol of the city of Birmingham, prominently displayed by the city's giant Vulcan statue. They played in the newly constructed Birmingham-Jefferson Stadium, built next to the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex. The construction of stadium had been proposed many times in the past, but it wasn't approved until the XFL agreed to pay for part of the construction with revenue from Vulcans home games. In exchange for this, they would be the primary tenants of the stadium and would have naming rights if they played two consecutive seasons in the stadium. As the Vulcans have played the 2020 season and will be playing the 2021 season there, the stadium will be named "Vulcans Stadium" at the end of the 2021 sseason. Despite concerns about competition with Alabama college football, the Vulcans were successful as a team and were able to sell out their first two of their five home games. Due to the popularity of the Vulcans and success of the XFL, various corporations have expressed interest in the naming rights to the stadium.

The Hartford Humpbacks derived their name from the city's defunct NHL franchise, the Whalers, famous for being Connecticut's last major league sports team. The XFL was unable to secure the rights to the Whalers trademark, as it was still owned by their successor team, the Carolina Hurricanes. Instead, the Humpbacks name was chosen as a reference to the Whalers. The Humpbacks created considerable excitement in Connecticut with their 8-2 regular season record, the best in the league. Two of their five home games at Rentschler Field sold out.

The New Jersey Generals took their name from the defunct USFL team of the same name, perhaps most famous for being owned by future U.S. President Donald Trump. The new Generals played at MetLife Stadium, home of the NFL's Giants and Jets, and in the same location as the now-demolished Giants Stadium, former home of those teams and the USFL Generals. The Generals were one of the least successful teams of the 2020 season, suffering sharply declining attendance after their first game. This was mostly attributed to the large size of the stadium and poor quality of the team. Despite reducing the capacity to the lower levels of the stadium, the team continued to struggle. As such, the Generals are leaving MetLife for the 2021 season for the much smaller Red Bull Arena in Harrison, home of the New York Red Bulls of MLS.

The Orlando Orange Rush had a name that hearkened back to the old XFL and was the only team without a noun as their name. They played at Spectrum Stadium, the so-called "Bounce House" and home of the UCF Knights. Despite Florida having three NFL teams and many popular college teams, the Orange Rush were moderately successful. The Orlando Rage were one of the more successful teams of the original XFL, and the Orange Rush matched their success, though they were overshadowed by some of the other teams. Nevertheless, the Orange Rush made it to the playoffs with a 6-4 record.

THE WEST
The Oakland Outlaws took their name from the original XFL's Las Vegas Outlaws. The team was placed in Oakland to attract fans of the departing Oakland Raiders of the NFL, who, coincidentally, were moving to Las Vegas. The Outlaws had difficulty finding a stadium, as Oakland proper did not have many potential venues of the right size. The undesirable Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, which the Raiders were leaving, was seen as the only option, but the XFL was unable to reach a deal with the Coliseum Authority. The XFL then began considering putting the team in San Francisco or Los Angeles and changing the name, but were able to secure a deal at the California Memorial Stadium at the last second. However, the deal included the clause that the Outlaws were only going to play there for one season and would be able to return for the 2021 season only if they sold out two of their five home games. None of the home games sold out, forcing the Outlaws to relocate at the end of the season. They will play in Levi's Stadium, home of the NFL's San Francisco 49ers, for the 2021 season. The XFL is considering making the team a traveling team, playing their home games in five different cities and renaming them the California Outlaws. However, financing a new stadium in Oakland with the A's or MLS has also been mentioned. A third option is permanently playing in Levi's Stadium or another Bay Area venue and changing the name to the Bay Area Outlaws. The decision will be made at the end of the 2021 season.

The St. Louis Stallions took their name from a proposed NFL team from the 1990s. The NFL Stallions never came to fruition as the Los Angeles Rams ended up moving to St. Louis. However, the return of the Rams to Los Angeles in 2016 meant St. Louis was without a professional football team once again. Additionally, the Dome at America's Center, the former home of the Rams, was now without a tenant. Thus, the XFL was easily able to secure the venue for the Stallions. Despite finishing with the league's worst record at 2-8, the Stallions developed a strong following for consistent playing and exciting games. However, the Dome, once rated the worst stadium in the NFL, was still despised by team and fans alike, leading to declining attendance by the end of the season. There has been discussion with the relevant authorities to renove the Dome or demolish it and build a new stadium on the same site, possibly to be shared with a potential St. Louis MLS expansion team.

The San Antonio Buzztails, originally named the San Antonio Rattlers, changed their names due to potential legal troubles. The Buzztails played in San Antonio's Alamodome. The city only had the San Antonio Spurs in a major sports league, as well as various minor teams in other leagues. The Buzztails were the first pro football team in San Antonio in years. As such, there was considerable excitement in the city for the team. In particular, if the Buzztails were successful in San Antonio, it would potentially help them secure an NFL team. Though they finished the season with a losing record, the Buzztails were rated the "hottest" team in the XFL for strong sales and consistent attendance at the relatively large Alamodome.

The San Diego Bolts derived their name from the old XFL's Birmingham Thunderbolts, intended as a reference to the San Diego Chargers, who left the city on bitter terms due to the decisions of unpopular owner Dean Spanos. The Bolts, like the Stallions, quickly became popular among spurned fans of the relocated NFL teams. Unlike the Stallions, the Bolts had a winning record and made the playoffs. The Bolts were the second-most successful team in the XFL in terms of both revenue and popularity, and their success was a striking contrast to the ongoing troubles of the Chargers in Los Angeles. Winning the XFL Cup further boosted their popularity. The support of San Diego was key to the continued success of the XFL.

The 2020 XFL season was the inaugural season of the second XFL. The season began on February 9, 2020, one week after the NFL's Super Bowl LIV, with five games featuring all 10 teams. The regular season last for eleven weeks, with each team playing one game a week for ten weeks, in addition to one bye week. The two playoff games, the Blue Game and the Red Game, were played on April 19, 2020. The #2 seed Bolts defeated the #4 seed Outlaws in the Blue Game, while the #1 seed Humpbacks defeated the #3 seed Orange Rush in the Red Game. The season concluded on May 3, 2020 when the San Diego Bolts upset the Hartford Humpbacks to win the first XFL Cup.

The XFL Cup, originally intended to be played at the home stadium of the favorite team, was moved to the newly constructed Las Vegas Stadium after the success of the league made the stadium's owners interested in hosting the game. The venue was moved and touted as an "extreme entertainment event" complete with events elsewhere in Vegas. The so called "Vegas Cup" was extremely successful, more than any other game in the league, and was a massive victory for the continued viability of the league. It was also the first event held in the newly completed stadium, which would be the home of the NFL's Raiders a few months later. The NFL was impressed by the event and decided to host Super Bowl LVII in Vegas Stadium.

THE FUTURE
The success of the XFL's first season guaranteed a second season in 2021. The 2021 season will begin after that year's Super Bowl and will coincide with a likely NFL lockout. In the event the lockout stretches into the summer and the NFL pre-season or even the start of the regular season, the XFL has stated that some games might be played in those weeks. Regardless of the business of the NFL, the XFL has outlined targets for expansion. Salt Lake City, Portland, Louisville, and Memphis have been mentioned as the top candidates for any potential expansion of the league. However, the XFL still has to contend with certain problems, particularly the less successful teams, venue conditions, and long-term financial viability.

Was entirely normal up to the 1960s for that. Now, if you want weird, Blue Wales. Last time that happened was in the 1830s.
The interesting thing about Newfoundland was that it was Liberal for its first 20 years in confederation, but then in 1968, when the Liberals had their best performance in 15 years, Newfoundland decided it was a good time to vote PC for the first time.

Stanfield was from Atlantic Canada and the Liberal government in Newfoundland was unpopular.
