This is for a sort of loose TL thing I've vaguely outlined where the present day is a lot like OTL in some ways but also different, a lot of butterflies massacred, and more for my own entertainment than realism or detail. But I thought some of the earlier stuff is maybe kinda plausible-ish at least
Here, Chiang Kai Shek doesn't succeed Sun Yat Sen as the leader of the Kuomintang. Instead someone from the left-wing of the KMT follows Sun, and the United Front is able to continue, with the Chinese Communist Party (which remains under the control of the 28 Bolsheviks and takes a more Leninist rather than Maoist stance, pursuing a NEP-like gradual socialist program rather than stuff like the Great Leap Forward) gradually growing to take a dominant position in the United Front and transforming it into something of a front-group. The late 20s still see a Northern Expedition, with the United Front taking Nanjing and with the warlords at least sort of falling in line
Japan still remains belligerent towards China, and intervenes in Manchuria, pushing back the forces of warlord general Zhang Xueliang. But unlike OTL, where the rightwing nationalist Nanjing central government was too busy trying to root out the communists and waging the encirclement campaigns to put up much resistance in Manchuria, the Nanjing government here under the left-leaning United Front is more popular with the peasants and doesn't really see much of an insurgency. The Nanjing government here is thus able to give its full attention to Manchuria, rallying the forces of the other warlords and sending its own forces north to aid Zhang Xueliang in the fight against Japan. The Japanese find themselves facing far more resistance than they expected, and were not quite prepared for a major war like they were in OTL 1937. The Chinese forces still find themselves struggling against Japan, but with superior numbers and facing Japan earlier when they had their forces less built up, they are able to keep the fighting contained to Manchuria and to start pushing the Japanese forces back, being aided by an earlier Operation Zet and later by direct Soviet intervention as well. In the end the Chinese and Soviet forces are able to push the Japanese forces off the continent and win the war

Taiwan, one of the territories lost in the Treaty of Shiminoseki, is returned to China. The Japanese could have theoretically just held onto it since even though the Chinese-Soviet alliance was able to push them off the mainland, they couldn't really challenge Japan head to head in terms of naval battle at this point. But the total defeat on the mainland was a big political shock in Japan, culminating in the 1934 coup which puts in power a pro-peace government that accepts the return of Taiwan (though for how long that pro-peace government will remain in power, who knows?)
I know there's some islands that were and are disputed off the coast of mainland East Asia, between Japan and China and Korea, and I'm not entirely sure what does happen with those, I didn't have any particularly solid ideas on those. But Jeju, as far as I know, has not been disputed as part of Korea, so I figure that too is just given up to the Socialist Republic of Korea

An investigation by the US Government revealed that Doomsday was a heavily modified Parademon from the Darkseid Army, and that the reason it was able to avoid detection was due to the use of a Boom Tube to drop it within Earth's atmosphere.

I kinda wanted to incorporate Marvel stuff into my mini-series, but outside of Spiderman, I know (and care) very, very little about wider Marvel comics. I did have a few ideas though (which you can pilfer if you want).
I'd say go with Wang Jingwei rather than Chen Duxiu. As (initially) eager the left KMT was to work with the CCP, I doubt they'd have let an orthodox Marxist come to power.

Jingwei was indeed one of the choices I considered, and that is a valid point. Who knows, Sun Yat Sen died in 1925, maybe Duxiu wasn't the first leader after him. and it was some years later that Duxiu managed to get himself on top, with Jingwei being leader in between
I just liked the idea of the Chinese Communists being led by a guy like Duxiu who was supportive of Trotsky, could make for an interesting dynamic as Stalin has some pragmatic and ideological reasons to work with China but at the same time could easily run into friction and disagreement with China too
You are correct about the first part EDIT: or maybe not., with what @lord cadeus brought up. As for the second though, regardless of whether or not it is true, Buchanan was generally paleocon type guy, solidly conservative on culture war issues. Perot did share the protectionist stances on economics, but in general Perot sort of positioned himself as a centrist guy to appeal to both sides without necessarily taking strong stances on culture war issues, so I could see him deciding to drop out and oppose Buchanan due to those factors, considering Buchanan's conservatism to be more of a negative than the positive of his protectionism

The federal government was leery of welcoming Senators and Representatives from Virginia, for fear of setting a precedent that other Southern states may seek to follow for their return to the Union. However, the unwavering loyalty of Senator Wiley in Congress during the war, newly elected Senator Pierpont’s service as Governor made it difficult to provide grounds for refusing to seat them. Furthermore, newly elevated Governor Boreman had committed to following national policy on reconstructing his state as he enforced the 1864 Constitutional prohibitions restricting the rights of Confederates and protecting the rights of Freedmen. After the Radical Republicans swept to power in Congress after the 1866 midterms, they passed a number of Reconstruction Acts (over President Johnson’s veto), placing recalcitrant Southern states under military occupation and military governors appointed. After Virginia ratified the 14th Amendment January 1867, the state was given special license, where their 1867 election was pushed back to 1869, a new state Constitutional Convention held, and provided military forces under Governor Boreman’s direction. The new Constitution granted universal suffrage to all men 21 or older, overturning the ban on Confederate voting while enshrining the right to vote for freedmen, while temporarily banning Confederates from holding office. Arthur Boreman would be elected to the Senate in the 1868-1869 elections, replacing Senator Wiley, in what was seen as a sign of Reconstructions success in Virginia. It wouldn’t last.
Even as President Grant would take office, carrying Virginia in the 1868 election, the ground would start to shift away from the Republicans. Former Whigs and Democrats founded the Conservative Party which sought to oppose Radical Republicanism and “restore proper government” to Virginia. This organization would be bolstered throughout the state by perceived excesses of Radical Republicans including the efforts to keep former Confederates disenfranchised and the ratification of the 15th Amendment in March 1869. In the gubernatorial election that summer, the Conservatives and western Virginia Democrats backed “True Republican” Gilbert Walker, a banker formerly from Chicago over the Radical aligned Colonel Henry Wells for Governor; incumbent Governor Melvin had been passed over by both organizations for falling in the middle ideological would instead be elected to the Virginia Courts. John Jacob, of the western Virginia Democratic machine would be elected Lt. Governor. The Conservatives and western Virginia Democrats would, in coalition, have a majority of the Virginia legislature. To solidify this political alliance, Henry Davis, a western Virginian whose train company had ensure the movement of supplies for the union during the war would be elected to replace Francis Pierpont in the 1870 election. Even as Conservatives and Democrats entrenched their control over the state, President Grant would win the state, albeit narrowly, in 1872. By the time of the 1873 election the ban on Confederate officers from holding office had been lifted and former Confederate General James Kemper would be easily elected Governor. But the earliest cracks that would splinter the Conservatives and would lead into the formation of the Readjuster Party after Reconstruction would be seen in the race for Lt. Governor as incumbent John Jacob, being allowed to run for another term, would be denied renomination as western Virginian rival Johnson Camden cast his lot behind eastern Virginian Robert Withers. Jacobs, a rather independent and obstinate figure, would form a People’s Party and be re-elected with the support of Virginia Republicans and Conservative defectors. The following year the Legislature, full of figures who had tried to oust him, would send him to the Senate to replace Arthur Boreman. By the time of the controversial 1876 election; where the state would vote for the Democratic ticket; and the official end of Reconstruction, Democrats and Conservatives would have a complete hold on the state.

It turns out that was actually a lie concocted by a PI in Perot's orbit that backfired.
Pat Buchanan has, among other things:
- Encouraged President Reagan to visit a cemetery where almost 50 members of the Waffen-SS were buried over protests from Holocaust survivors and Americans across the political spectrum. Eli Wiesel said that Buchanan defended the visit by saying that 'we cannot give the perception of the President being subjected to Jewish pressure.'
- Was a strong defender of John Demjanjuk, a man who was accused of being a particularly cruel concentration camp guard named "Ivan the Terrible" to the point where he compared his prosecution to that of Jesus Christ despite otherwise being anti-immigration and supporting tough law-and-order policies. (Demjanjuk was cleared of being "Ivan the Terrible" but was confirmed to have been a concentration camp guard and was deported. He was sentenced to five years' imprisonment as an accessory to the murder of over 25,000 Jews, but died during the appeal process)
- Said that the Treblinka death camp was actually a transit camp and that it was impossible for 850,000 people to be killed by diesel fuel exhaust. Over 900,000 Jews were killed in Treblinka, with diesel exhaust gas chambers killing around 12,000 to 15,000 per day.
- Complained about the high proportion of Jews in the US Senate and Supreme Court compared to their number in the overall population and declared Capitol Hill to be "Israeli-occupied territory" among other things.
- Wrote an entire book saying Hitler was provoked by Great Britain into starting World War II and that Hitler originally wanted an alliance with Poland before things spiraled out of control.
