Part One of a series.
Selnec is short for South East Lancashire-North East Cheshire. I don't see it getting extended to cover the entire northwest urban region, much less Sheffield.

I Saw a UFO: Part 2
The Presidency of Kucinich was dead in the water due to check and balance republicanism. With only support from Progressives, most of the more radical elements of Kucinich's New New Deal to combat the depression were overruled, even with a Democratic supermajority. The likes of Senator Lieberman and Manchin were just the few who protested the Presidents 'socialism'. The Recession was eventually stabilized and as promised, Kucinich did not bail out the financial institutions forcing many out of business. A major piece of reformist legislation in order to properly regulate these institutions going further including the reintroduction of Glass-Steagall and a new Dodd-Frank bill designed to prevent such speculation and inflation from occurring again at such a deal. Thus his approval went to a high of 64% by late 2009.

A Universal Healthcare bill was happily signed into law by Kucinich on the backs of Senators Brown, Sanders, and Obama. A filibuster by Lieberman almost killed it, but a strong rallying by the President forced most Democrats to vote in line for the bill. Republicans called blasphemy over such a 'bundle of unrestricted government regulation upon our free markets' but were in the minority, though were heavily campaigning on the new midterms too stop any advance. The President also made moves on medical marijuana and Iraq, the former signing into law a hard-fought bill ensuring state sovereignty over their own cannabis laws, and the later setting a plan to remove all troops by 2012. And around the world, he began to pull back American power excess from the 'reckless days of the Bush Administration' which made him a scorn of the Cheneys and the Wolfowitz's of the world.

The 2010 midterms were a clear Republican sweep with them winning the House and the Senate, holding both now by a conformable majority, all despite intensive campaigning by the president to save his now popular New New Deal regulations. However, they failed to repeal much of the Presidents agenda due to the internal squabble between Moderates and members of the new Tea Party wing. Most notable including the failed repeal of the Brown-Sanders Insured Universal Healthcare Act twice and an attack on the reinstation of Glass-Steagall. They did, however, prevent anything new out of the President and in essence became a lame duck 2 years before the 2012 election.

The 2012 Republican Primaries was many a battle of Moderate vs Conservatism. The road towards the presidency looked rough, yet promising, as the President still maintained anywhere from a 45-55% approval rating. Governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney looked like the guy too become the party's nominee. Campaigning on leading a strong and stable presidency, he lambasted the Presidents 'outlandish, socialist policies' and bombarded him on his 'weakness on the world stage'. Yet he himself was having trouble trying to win over the Republican base, what with his past moderate and business ties, with a base still wanting a Huckabee type to win their minds. So Senator Santorum became his main rival. A conservative and Pennsylvania Anti-Gay icon, he was also joined by Newt Gingrich on the field but he burned out quickly, along with mentions of another Ron Paul candidacy, yet he refused, in the end, to run against a friend like Kucinich. Romney would quickly drop in the polls as Santorum made a passionate case for his Social and Economic Conservativism. He won over the friendly Iowa electorate, like Huckabee did 4 years prior, and thus began to be viewed as another Huckabee-ite insurgent. Romney won New Hampshire and Nevada, yet Santorum came back with a big win in South Carolina. He rekindled the Huckabee coalition, and then some, winning New York in an upset, and finishing it off with a win in California. He chose formal rival Newt Gingrich the VP slot, more for geographic diversity, then ideological.

Dennis Kucinich, in the end, won a second term, but Santorum made it a close race and held Kucinich to the fire. He even won the swing state of Virginia in an upset, but again Ohio chose the winner, and they liked their favorite son.

The United States presidential election of 1980 was the 49th quadrennial presidential election. It was held on November 4, 1980. Incumbent President Robert F. Kennedy defeated Republican nominee and former director of the CIA George H.W. Bush.

Carole King is a Laborers politician and former singer-songwriter who is the incumbent Secretary of the Environment. She has previously served as Governor of Colorado for 6 years until President-Elect Nina Turner announced she would nominate King for Secretary of the Enviroment. King resigned her governorship on March 1, 2017, and became Secretary of the Environment on March 14, 2017.

Before politics she was a songwriter composing 118 Billboard Hot 100 songs. She also performed at the legendary 1976 New York Olympics. She became involved in politics in 2000, being heavily involved in Al Gore's campaign, and again in 2004. She became a prominent supporter and surrogate speaker, focusing mostly on environmental related causes.

In 2010, with the support of Al Gore she ran for Governor of Colorado, campaigning on environmental causes, and labor issues with the slogan "You've Got a Friend". She won a narrow campaign against incumbent Alliance Governor Ben Nighthorse Campbell. Also running was Denver city councilor Tom Tancredo under the Freedom and Liberty Party. The results were King 52% to Campbell's 39% with Tancredo taking a surprising 9% of the vote.

As Governor she pledge to make Colorado 100% renewable by 2020 called the “One Fine Day Project”. She was a strong supporter of legalization of marijuana in what she called the “Wrap Around Joy Act” and also had the state file suit against mining companies for unsafely disposing of industrial waste, which she dubbed the “I Feel the Earth Move Initiative”. This was very controversial and she barely won reelection in 2014 against Alliance Asma Hasan; 51% to 49%. In her second term she saw the introduction of the Colorado Equality Act, or the “So Much Love, Now and Forver Act” which banned discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender expression. In the crowded 2016 Laborers Primary she endorsed fellow Governor Nina Turner of Ohio. Her endorsement as the governor of an early primary state was crucial to Turner securing the Laborers nomination.

After being confirmed as Secretary of the Environment she has pushed to fund nuclear, solar, and wind power over coal and natural gas. She has also been key in founding Ozarks and Gila National Parks. She has adapted her “One Fine Day” into the “It’s Not Too Late Program”, forming a plan to make america 100% renewable energy by 2040.

The turning point in the campaign came about two weeks before polling day. At that time our canvassing returns had us clearly ahead with around 40%, with Hughes and O'Grady neck and neck on around 25%. The thing that changed everything was a poll published in the main local newspaper. It was similar to our canvassing returns, with us on 37%, but O'Grady was a single point ahead of Hughes in second place - 26% to 25%. Despite the fact that it was well within the margin of error, O'Grady was able to use it to position himself as the main anti-left candidate.

A week later and things were looking grim. The returns on the doorsteps were showing that Hughes's support had largely collapsed to O'Grady, and he now had a lead of around 45% to 35% on us. Another public poll showed a similar story.

Then, of course, the 'incident' happened on the Monday before polling day. The interesting thing is at the time, we didn't think it would be enough to swing it back to us, but those newspaper front pages and television news bulletins - of me being carried away from that street corner, covered in bruises and blood, and the National Front thugs (who had more or less given up on their own candidate and were campaigning for O'Grady) being led away by the police - clearly did have a significant effect. I'm still to this day shocked by our margin of victory, even though the Labour vote was still well down on the previous general election.

Had that poll just had a very slightly different sample and Hughes had been in second place, then things might have been quite different.

A random one-off because I'm feeling dysphoric and having feels over Paul McCartney. Carry on then.

The 2015 Louisianian Election

The 2015 Louisianian Election was held to elect members to the Louisianian Assembly. The 2010 election saw Marie Landrieu elected against Bobby Jindal in a landslide election after the Colation between the centrists and the Republicans fell into chaos. The Liberals term started well with the rebalancing of the budget which included a funds injection into National infrastructure projects and strengthening of the Louisianian highway system built in the 60s. The Republicans refused to change leaders until Bobby Jindal resigned in late 2011. With Unemployment hovering around 12% the government was being increasingly pressured to pass laws encouraging small business growth. The Government eventually agreed on a Drastic cut to the corporate tax for smaller businesses and a low drop in national income tax to encourage workers. The Republicans elected Anglophone Mary Fallin from Sequoyah as their leader seen as a conservative economically and socially the polls saw a small rise in support. The Liberals had a surprise loss in the Sequoyah General Election which signalled a move to the right for the State. Fallin made the conservatives a base in the Conservative population. The Liberals were still ahead in the polls enough to give them a comfortable majority. The Greens hoping to move from their New Orleans base poured a lot of effort into the 2013 Arkansas General election and managed to secure 10 seats in the 200 seat Arkansas assembly sensing a more national campaign in the 2015 upcoming election. The end of the term saw a relatively good term for the Liberal government with them around 8-13% ahead in the polls. The royal family shocked the public when King Napoleon VII announced that he would give the throne to his predecessor Jean-Christophe Napoleon when the throne passed him instead of his eldest daughter Princess Caroline Napoleon. The announcement was met with backlash by the Princess who claimed: "I do not understand why my father wouldn't trust me in the throne of our great nation". The prime minister pledged to not intervene and set official rules for succession. Just before the campaign, the Populist Heritage party got a new Leader and their first female leader which gave them female appeal.

The campaign officially started when the date of the election was approved by the Emporer. The Liberal party tried to Keep their rural base in Sequoyah and Arkansas to retain a majority. The Republicans worked on closing the gap in towns. The debates further tightened the polls. But a scandal-struck Landrieu when she was caught after the debate saying "The Kings decision is completely sexist. Why on earth cant we have an Empress?!". She had claimed not to have an opinion on the royal issue and the Audio sent the Liberal behind the Republicans in the Polls. Election night was set up to be close.

The Liberals surprised many by winning the popular vote but they couldn't form a Colation just with the centrists. Negotiation of coalitions took weeks to sort out but eventually, the Centrists decided to go with a 3 Party Coalition between themselves the Republicans and Heritage instead of the 4 party alternative. The Emperor approved the coalition and Fallin were sworn in as Prime Minister at the demise of the Liberals. The coalition government has so far had a mixed bag of successes and failures with the Republicans failing to poll above the Liberals now headed by Caroline Fayard. How could LaToya Cantrell have contested this election if she wouldn't be the Green leader until several moths later?

Jesus, The Crossroads of Destiny world sounds like a pretty shitty place to live.

Well, if you show CoD america to a Liberals in the US, he would say that it is much Better than OTL. No nuclear weapons, universal healthcare, education paid by the state.... But the rest of the world is so a shitty place that Canada became Fascist and tried to invade the United State :p

Yeah, and if we'd voted Boehmer in 2000 no one would've ever bothered American again, but I digress.
