The Brixton by-election of 8 April 1976 was held after the expulsion of sitting Member of Parliament Marcus Lipton. First elected in 1945, Lipton was among 27 abstaining Labour MPs forced to take the Crown Steward and Bailiff of the three Chiltern Hundreds of Stoke, Desborough and Burnham on 3 February 1976 as punishment of after having rejected the Government Whip. The seat was easily gained by local councillor Roy Major, who ran as a candidate of the National Labour Committee. Major would later serve as Prime Minister from 1990 until his resignation in 1997.

The by-election was notable as it was held in the immediate aftermath of April 5th Coup, which saw Lt. James Callaghan installed as First Lord of the Treasury. Additionally, beyond Major, there was only one other candidate, local disk jockey Robert Jones, who ran under the banner 'Local' (as had become customary for Independent candidates during the years in-between the National Governments). Barring Jones, all non-National Government backed candidates were unable to register. As a result, Jones received a higher than expected percentage of the vote share, 37.3%, though failed to prevent National Labour taking the seat. In 2016, the long-standing belief of electoral fraud committed by the National Government was confirmed (and was the case for all other by-elections on the 8 April), however, unlike most of the cases, it was noted that Major would have likely carried Brixton regardless, albeit with a far smaller majority.

Roy Major would remain MP for the Constituency until the first quasi-free election of 2001, in which he stepped down as MP, succeeded by National candidate Peter Woodrose.

New York special Senate Election, 1949

On June 28, 1949, incumbent Democratic Senator Robert F. Wagner resigned from the Senate, thus necessitating the need for a special election. The Democrats needed to nominate a strong candidate to go against appointee to the seat John Foster Dulles, an associate of Governor Dewey and UN delegate. However, the strongest candidate the Democrats could find, former Governor Lehman, declined to run. The Democrats, in desperation, went to former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, and asked her to run. Reluctantly, she said yes. The Roosevelt family's name recognition worked wonders against her moderately-known opponent. While Dulles ran an aggressive campaign, Roosevelt ran a positive campaign that focused on international cooperation compared to Dulles' expansionist policies.

By the time November 8 rolled around, normally toss-up New York had a distinct blue tilt as the Senate welcomed their new member. Roosevelt joined Senator Margaret Chase Smith to be the second woman in the 81st Senate.

Elenoh Steiblitz Kennedeigh (b. May 29, 2956–) was an American politician who served as the 235th President of the United States since January 3001, serving two-and-a-half terms[1] until her disappearance in July, 3011. An Egalitarian-aligned Independent, she won three presidential elections and emerged as a central figure in world events during the events of First Contact. She is often rated by scholars as one of the greatest U.S. Presidents, along with Abraham Lincoln, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Marek Gallego and Elsie Mezvinsky[2].

Kennedeigh was born in Duluth, Minnesota. Her mother, Cate P. Kennedeigh, was born to Canadian immigrants[3], and her father, Laurence Kennedeigh (nee Sullivan) was the great-grandson of former Republican House Minority Leader Brave Y. Sullivan[4]. During her time at Harvard, she took part in a Transitional Orbital Sortie, where she reportedly experienced Overview Effect, which she said motivated her to seek higher office. After graduation, she entered politics at the age of 29, serving in the Minnesota State Senate, and then as Governor. She was in office from 2082 to 2095 and served as an independent governor, reportedly ‘unhappy’ with the policies of the dominant parties and their collective responses to the Ali Crises[5], introducing several preemptive measures to deal with the resulting financial slump. She was a reported speculative candidate for two election years prior to the 3000 Elections, but twice rebutted these rumours, instead wishing to focus on running her state. At the behest of her peers in the Rockies[6], Kennedeigh launched her Presidential campaign and was elected by a comfortable margin.

Her first term initially saw a 'leisurely cleanup'[6] of the Crises, which was helped by the fact that her Vice Presidents that made up the Triumvirate were of similar ideological leanings. Despite the swift resolution, her administration then had to deal with various problematic events, such as the beginning of the Third Fjord War, the Red Blot Outbreaks and the Ugmo Riots of '31. The results, while mixed, were met with generally positive reception. As she was a principal World Leader at the time of First Contact, Kennedeigh was present for the Majestic Twelve Assembly, and voted for the majority Passivity notion until more information could be gathered about the

Obama is ineligible to serve as president again (per the Twenty-Second Amendment). So the faithless elector who voted for him would likely either be replaced with an alternate or asked to change their vote or be replaced if they don't pick someone eligible for the office.
