A semi-meaningful doodle from my TCUS project.

Spectrum is the left-wing social justice party, having a platform based upon Feminism, Equality, and Justice for oppressed groups. It focuses its resources on the Human Rights, Education, and Justice Councils, though sometimes supporting the campaigns of specific candidates in specific parties, when hot-button issues important to the party are under discussion.

Most Spectrum voters typically vote for American Workers or Libertarian candidates in other councils, though their interests do not always align. The more populist bent of the American Workers in recent years when it comes to immigration has resulted in a fracture between Populist Leftists in the Mid-West and Justice Leftists on the coasts, which is partly why Spectrum formed in the first place.

I feel like if this actually happened, it would just be begging for Autism jokes from right-wing commentators.

I didn't really have a better name for it at the moment (Socialist, Justice, Left, Center, Alt-left, etc. all taken), and the Right-Wing parties have equally weird names (TEA, Business, Eagle, Constitution, Grangeland...).

Cedric Levon Richmond (September 13, 1973 – July 26, 2055) was an American politician who served as the 55th Speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 2023 to 2031 and again from 2033 to 2035. A member of the Democratic Party, Richmond was the U.S. Representative from Louisiana's 2nd district for 34 years from 2011 to 2045, a district that included most of New Orleans.

Richmond served as House Minority Leader for the 117th Congress from 2021 to 2023, succeeding Nancy Pelosi, who stepped down when faced with devastating losses in the House in years otherwise successful for Democrats. Richmond was thrust into the position of Speaker when Democrats took the House in the 2022 midterm elections. Despite holding the majority, Richmond and the Democratic Party did not formally support impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump even in the face of massive public support for impeachment. However, under Richmond's leadership, several Trump appointments were subject to impeachment, most famously Rex Tillerson, Steven Mnuchin, and Wilbur Ross. Richmond was then Speaker for the first six years of Joseph Kennedy's presidency before losing the House in 2030. After serving as Minority Leader for another 2 years, Richmond unexpectedly became Speaker again after Democrats won a narrow majority of 2 seats in the House, boosted by the landslide victory of Vice President Kander in the presidential election. After losing the House again in 2034, Richmond served as Minority Leader for 6 years before resigning in favor of his deputy, Democratic Whip Jerry Martinez. Richmond retired from Congress in 2044 despite calls for him to return to leadership after the unexpected and sudden death of Jerry Martinez. He was succeeded by State Senator Lewis Galt.

Florida Senate Election, 2010

The Senate election in Florida was one bright spot for the Democrats in the 2010 Republican wave. Moderate Republican Charlie Crist had fallen behind in the polls to Tea Party conservative Marco Rubio, but still polled above Democrat Kendrick Meek. As the election neared, Meek realized that he had no chance of winning, and also noticed that Crist drew more of his votes from Democrats than Republicans. With that, Meek withdrew from the race and endorsed Crist. The Florida Democratic Party began heavily campaigning for Crist, hoping that every last Meek voter turned out for the Independent candidate.

In the end, the Democrats got what they wanted. The election was kept close by Rubio's appeal to Hispanics and conservative independents. For example, Rubio nearly won Osceola, Orange, and Miami-Dade counties, and prevailed in Volusia and Seminole. However, Crist won a plurality of 55,000 votes and ended up caucusing with the Democrats, giving them at least one bright spot heading into 2012. (Just so y'all know, Crist's total turnout is Meek votes plus Crist votes. Wakulla County is black to indicate a tie there.)

Part I of ?: Fictionalized versions of real-life people*
*Note: This is some kind of weird AU where the basic characters exist (displacing OTL figures), but the political backdrop and crazy background details don't, such as:
** Daniel Clamp = Donald Trump. Gremlins 2 may or may not have happened.
** Susan Stanton = Hillary Clinton. Primary Colors may have happened (probably not exactly as shown).
** Robert Kinsey = Mike Pence. Stargate SG-1 did not happen.
** Jack Hathaway = Tim Pence. The Contender did not happen.
** Percy Fitzwallace = Colin Powell. The West Wing did not happen (Fitz lives!).
** Albert Alger = Ron Paul. The Thick of It's 2007 US ABC pilot may have happened.
** Ortolan Finistirre = Bernie Sanders. Thank You For Not Smoking may or may not have happened (probably not exactly as shown).
** Alex Keaton = John Kasich. Family Ties may or may not have happened (probably not exactly as shown).
** Wenonah Littlebird (Owlwoman) = Faith Spotted Eagle. DC Comics in general almost certainly has not happened. Littlebird is probably not secretly Owlwoman here.
** James Sawyer = Barack Obama. White House Down did not happen.
** Due to the faithless votes, this election is an outlier. Most won't have this many notes.
