I think he'd probably alienate and offend most of the electorate to lose a safe seat. To me he is the definition of sanctimonious.

He's a smug, smarmy, self-righteous git who's often condescending and sanctimonious. If there is one silver lining to that scenario, it's that he'd never end up on the front-bench because he'd be too much a dick-head fo anyone to actually like him.
For me the silver lining would be him potentially losing to UKIP. Seeing him getting defeated on election night would be probably be as satisfying to me as Farage's loss in 2015 was to other people.

On that note I leave you.

Actually yeah, if he did end up in Parliment, he'd transform Brent into a Lab-UKIP Marginal, if only because he'd act entitled towards the electorate, insist he 'destroyed' his opponents in table debates, and not get off his arse to do some real campaigning.
Pretty much Thornberry dialled up to eleven then. The fact that being in the US has propelled his career forward is disappointing, but they can happily keep him IMHO.
Does Oliver actually talk about "destroying" people? I thought that was just the clickbait reposts/redirects of his videos.

Oliver doesn't necessarily say he destroyed someone himself (because that's too roll-eyes even for him), but the way he debates or rants pretty much ensure he never has to because that's the attitude he gives off.
I mean, Gonzo isn't wrong that he would pretty much hand Brent North to a third party. His self-righteous and brash attitude is something that doesn't connect to the electorate, especially in the diverse suburban electorate of Brent North, and would leave him open to either UKIP or the LibDems gaining the seat given how easily exploitable he is.

The New England National Convention of 2024 was a constituent assembly established to decide the constitutional future of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont after the occupation of New England by the Canadian Forces.
In preparation for absorption of delegates to the Convention to the Canadian House of Commons in case any of the New England States voted for Confederation, the elections, held concurrently with the Second Round of Canada's 2024 Presidential Elections, were made under the Canada Elections Act and the Third Schedule to the Constitution of the Canadian Republic, and therefore, by a Mixed-Member Proportional System. The use of Canadian Electoral Laws were opposed by the United States, citing the Fourth Geneva Convention, which stated that "an occupying power should maintain the status quo in any occupied territories".
The Convention had three primary purposes:
1. Negotiate the Terms of Union between the New England states and Canada;
2. Decide [each state delegation doing so separately] on the Amendments made to the Constitutions of the New England states to ensure a smooth transition to Provincehood;
3. Draft a Constitution for New England, in case both remaining within the United States and Confederation with Canada are rejected by the electorate.
The Convention first met in the Connecticut State Senate Chamber in Hartford on January 20, 2025 (The same day on which President Michael Chong's second term began), moved to the Massachusetts State Senate Chamber after Connecticut's and Rhode Island's delegations left on July 5, 2025 (The two States opted to return to the United States, while the rest of New England decided to join Canada in a July 4 Referendum), and finally dissolved itself on August 19, 2025, its remaining delegates becoming Members of the House of Commons of Canada.
