The Presidential election wasn't the only election which was focused on. Remember how I said Debs was running for governor of Indiana? Well, I decided to post the results. Here are they:

Despite losing Indiana's 15 electoral votes, the Social Democrats surprised everyone by winning in the Gubernatorial Race. Debs was the first Social Democratic governor to be elected east of the Mississippi.

The 1980 presidential election was fought amongst corruption and oppression, like the rest of elections since 1940, as the alliance between the Democratic Party and the military continued to function against the each time more desperate (and more extremist) Republican Party (and its small ally the Progressives). The Republican Party, which had been locked out of power ever since Hubert H Humphrey had lost a rigged election against military leader Harold Stassen in 1964, was finally considered by the media (both local and foreign) to have a shot back into power even despite the huge amounts of power-rigging and corruption. The economy had tanked after a sharp rise in oil prices after Aryanam moved into the Non-Alligned Pact after a feud with President Rockefeller in 1977, and a subsequent oil embargo from Eurasia, Assyria and the Islamic State that had oil prices rise to an inflation-adjusted equivalent of $120. Subsequent corruption allegations against Rockefeller which turned out to be true and his subsequent pardon by his successor, John M. Ashbrook, accompanied by a sharp tack to the right under Ashbrook, meant that the Democratic Party (already widely unpopular) was the most unpopular it had been since before FDR. If only the Republicans were to nominate a moderate guy, like popular governor Jimmy Carter of Georgia, they'd have a chance to get back into power, and begin to dismantle the cronyist and corrupt system that had kept the military in power for forty years.

Of course, as would be expected of an increasingly marginalised party tied with open Socialists and Europe-sympathisers, the chances of them being elected once again were shattered when, in the New Hampshire primary, black, female and New Yorker Shirley Chisholm absolutely destroyed Carter and McGovern, the two favourites before that moment. They were further shattered when, instead of picking a military officer as the VP ticket, Chisholm chose political activist Ralph Nader as her vice-presidential nominee, becoming the second presidential ticket to have no military experience since 1940.

However, the continued unpopularity of the Democratic Party, the extremism of its nominee, Ronnie Reagan, and increased interest over the Republican nominee by blacks, women and other minorities mant that, by election day, the race was once again close. Indeed, so close that (although Chisholm lost handily in the popular vote) the vote would come down to a tie in the Electoral College. Not a big deal, thought many; this meant that it would go to the Senate and the House, both handily controlled by Democrats. However, in the Electoral College vote on december, one faithless elector from the state of Virginia casted his vote for Chisholm and rather than Reagan. With a vote of 268-267, Chisholm was elected President of the United States, becoming the first nonwhite and female President.

Of course, Chisholm's rule would last all of three months before Ronnie Reagan and the Democratic Party, fueled by the rage of an election that was stolen from them, launched the now infamous coup d'etat against the Chisholm government that established the 12-year Reagan régime.

Does coup mean coup, or is this just a colorful way of a Congress heavily controlled by the party that polled seven million votes more than the President turfed them via impeachment?

It was an actual coup by the military. Chisholm and Nader were forced to flee and Presidential elections were suspended for '84 and '88. The legislature remained ostensibly democratically-elected, though. It's more or less inspired in the Revolución Libertadora in Argentina against Perón.

AAAAAUGH! Democratic Reagan!

Also, that colour scheme is awesome.

Thanks! :D

And it's not just Democratic Reagan, it's Democratic would-be-dictator Reagan. Truly terrifying.

Well that's just awful.

oh yes, I recall there is much thinging about 'people are tearing their hair out about trying to rationalise accepted evolutionary theory with the reality they are presented with'.

I still think that biologists would have rather easily accepted aliens moving humans around once they saw that humans were on other worlds, too. Heck, they've even speculated about this (not that seriously) in RL...

Yeah, but when you've gone and finally gotten everyone to agree to evolution being correct, do you want to be the guy suggesting intelligent design?

Even if it's clearly slap-dash and half-assed?

Actually, Especially if it's clearly slap-dash and half-assed.

There's no real evidence of alien intervention in extra-terrestrial human evolution/creation aside from them simply existing ex nihilo

Well, evolution is still the primary force and mover behind biology. There was just some mucking about in the relatively recent past by aliens/God/ASBs/Archangel Michael using an ISOT machine/etc.).

Ah. I would think that many respected scientists would speculate about it, through, and try and find evidence for it (after all, they might also find technologies and other things left behind by the aliens, things that might enable the country of the discovering scientists to gain a real advantage in geopolitics- I'm guessing lots of both open and secret funding from various governments. It would also seriously advance science.)

Electoral system: Closed-List Proportional Representation, modified D'Hondt with 5% threshold
Votes for parties that polled below the 5% threshold: 6.87%, 420,719,000 (2010); 9.65%, 170,027,000 (1910)
Note: Atheists and agnostics are represented in voter turnout. Consequently, popular vote percentages reflect percentage of religious population, not percent of total population.

The 2010 Kingdom of Heaven general election elected the members of the House of Lords. The incumbent Lord Speaker Jesus, leader of the Christian Party, formed a coalition government with the Islamic Party. The 2010 Abrahamic Coalition Agreement affirmed monotheism, the linear nature of time, their commons prophets, and finally, the nature of good and evil. This was accepted by God, thus continuing the Ministry of Jesus.

You kinda can't get Hexapods from tetrapods without some serious mucking about, and the whole solar system is pretty obviously engineered in a few relatively discrete phases IIRC.
