Chalk it up to Republican splits/idiocy, the ability to continually portray themselves as outsiders, and good luck in terms of international events (i.e. the weakening of the Soviet Union). And, really, since Bayh every Democratic president has been somewhat of an unconventional outsider.Twenty years of Democratic rule? And all three of the presidents being businessmen? Wow.
I wonder if any Democratic presidents in the future will get there by saying "The outsiders are the establishment. Vote for an insider, I know how to legislate, how to govern and I'll oppose the Democratic anti-Washington establishment every step of the way!"Chalk it up to Republican splits/idiocy, the ability to continually portray themselves as outsiders, and good luck in terms of international events (i.e. the weakening of the Soviet Union). Hate to be That Guy, but the Constitution stipulates that the House can only vote on the top three vote-getters.X-Posting from the Politiyank thread, with some additions.

President McMullin would end up losing to Ted Cruz in 2020 after a fairly unpopular presidency. Because of a lack of support in Congress among progressive Democrats and conservative Republicans, he was unable to get much done, and was nearly impeached in favor of Tim Kaine in late 2019. Starting in 2017 politicians from both major parties started pushing for the abolition of the Electoral College, and states began signing the National Popular Vote interstate compact. The final state to sign the compact was Alabama in September 2023, and in March 2025 the Twenty-Eighth Amendment was passed, which abolished the Electoral College and stated that the winner of the popular vote would become President.

Forgot it was based on electoral votes and not the (meaningless) popular vote. But, because of his two faithless Utahn electors, he is part of the top three.
1. buuuuuuut thats woooooooooork
2. on a more serious note they're not in the wikibox in the original wikibox on wikipedia for the 1948 election and since they didn't gain any seats I didn't see a reason to put them in
south African Labour Party and the Afrikaner Party which split from the national party over south africas entrance into ww2
Interesting. Why does Weicker win states straight after the electoral college is abolished? Wouldn't it make more sense for him to campaign over a wider area and gain votes across the country rather than trying to top the polls in New England states?

I guess it is possible, it just seems an odd juxtaposition; I'm mapping the London Assembly on and off and what you notice is that in the FPTP part other parties than the big two often win wards, but in the PR list part it tends to be the big parties winning everywhere (but on a smaller plurality).I mean, he does get a very respectable percentage of the vote too, and I can see the New England states not being overly fond of Iacocca.
Hmm, Arms are post Edward due to the Garter, the Shield is a variation of Valois-Anjou suggesting a cadet line of the Louis of Naples and Anjou. Perhaps Henry IV is victorious over France and has a daughter who marries a later son of the Naples King whose son inherits France and England (likely with protests from the Yorks). Later their cousin Naples line dies out and they use their Anglo-French forces to secure Naples. Some rather rushed stuff, but more stuff none-the-less! Gotta keep fueling the fires of Lilies and Lions.
This time, more stately stuff.
I'm working on religion, as @KingCrawa asked about the Church, and I've got some of my own Wars of Religion on the horizon. (The renewed crusades put off the Roman Catholic church's collapse, but when it does, it really does. War of the Four Popes sounds like a good starting place.)
*As usual, nothing is final until I say so. And thanks for enjoying them as much as I enjoy making them!
My reasoning as well. That, and the fact that Republicans in the northeast would almost entirely vote Weicker over Robertson.I mean, he does get a very respectable percentage of the vote too, and I can see the New England states not being overly fond of Iacocca.
Here are some inboxes for political parties in a TL where Guomindang managed to defeat the Communists after WW2 to then rule the Republic of China as a One-party state until 1990s when it was ousted out of power by a broad coalition of opposition groups. Shortly after these groups divided into two opposite parties, capitalist and liberal Republican Party and socialist and conservative People's Union that completely dominated the Legislative Yuan until the Reformed Guomindang managed to gain some seats in 2010.
All possible correction on the Chinese text will be greatly appreciated.

Very nice. Did the Kai-sheks become a sort of dynasty TTL?
