I assume that election works like Soviet elections, only with more of a Putinist flair?

(Blank votes count as for CPSU, only CPSU candidate can campaign, media controlled by CPSU, but token "opposition")

The way that the election process ITTL's Soviet Union works, is more or less as you said, basically a combination of OTL Soviet and modern Russian elections, as while there are other legal political parties that exist and operate, most of them are only allowed to exist so that the government in Irkutsk can present a somewhat believable facade that an actual Democratic process is occurring within the country, while a nominal multi-party democracy the CPSU controls every single aspect of the state; and only CPSU and independent candidates with ties to the CPSU have any legitimate chance at winning the elections.

Who or what is a Nikolai Yeltsin?

Boris Yeltsin's father in both TTL and OTL, and a politician ITTL.

That makes no sense but whatever

How does it not make sense?

I can't imagine what kind of hell the USSR is going through with Lavrenty "I Have A Soundproof Rape Room" Beria in charge.

Well at the point that my TL is currently at, Molotov is now the Soviet President, as Beria recently died via an assassin's bullet during a state visit to Washington, DC, but his presidency certainly did not help the Soviet Union any bit besides maybe his strongman tendencies working to help keep the fragile and crumbling country together, but the Soviet Union is nonetheless in complete and utter hell, and in the middle of a four way Civil War between the government, Republican partisans, Fascist partisans supported by China, and Central Asian separatists supported by Germany; through that is not entirely Beria's fault.

Georgepatton, in a fit of madness, made this but decided to disown it.
Jesus, and I thought my "Kana Hanazawa as a presidential candidate" box was bad. :p
I deny everything, as strenuously and vociferously as anyone has ever denied anything anywhere at any time.
That'd be interesting to see laid out as an election box.
Well here you go!

The Motherland Party went big for the first time this election, their decision to forsake ideological purity in favor of running candidates in the Men's districts having paid off handsomely. The CDP will have to figure out for themselves what went wrong. The People's Party knows what went wrong: Thomas P. O'Neil is long over-due for retirement, and, fortunately, that has been provided for.

I have evidence that says otherwise. :p

This feels somehow disappointing. Like I was expecting or thinking that each party in each caucus had its leader, so each party would have two leaders. But still nice.

If I didn't suck at fanfics, I would've totally written a spy story set in an Earth Kingdom divided by an Iron Curtain but, since my fanfic skills are worse than those of the average 14 year old fangirl, I didn't write anything. I tried but, in the end, my inability to do anything remotely creative prevailed. It's weird, plenty of people would kill to have my extremely vivid imagination, but it's trapped inside my brain, and every attempt to translate it into text failed miserably. :(

Believe me, I am familiar with the syndrome.

The election of 1904 was very important in Illinoisan history, as it boosted the state Labor Party significantly and delivered them government.

The incumbent Protectionist Party was seen as too hesistant to pass reform to Illinois' economy and it lost many voters to Labor as a result.

The Anti-Socialist Party (formerly the Free Trade Party) was expecting to gain, but the votes the Protectionists lost mostly went to Labor, benefiting them greatly.

The Prime Minister of America, Eugene Debs, (himself the first Labor politician to reach that position) congratulated Altgeld on his electoral victory and for getting into government (via a coalition deal with the Protectionists under the former Premier William Lorimer).

The three core ships of the United States Coast Guard: the Arleigh Burke-class destroyer (Flight VIII), Stephen Decatur-class frigate and Manila Bay-class seaplane tender. Three three ship classes are some of the most commonly known ships the Coast Guard operates (even though Truxton-class corvettes and Courageous-class corvettes are more numerous, and the Tripoli-class amphibious assault ships are more flashy). The Arleigh Burkes have formed the backbone of the United States Navy since the 1980s, and while they've been retired from U.S. Naval service, the Coast Guard continues to operate them on the Outer System. Each planet and commonwealth builds its own ships and are labeled as subclasses. The largest Coast Guard concentration can be found on Io and Ganymede due to their large oceans and issues with piracy and rival nations, but they have a presence across the settled worlds in the Jovian and Saturnian systems. The Arleigh Burkes are the flagships of the fleet while the Decaturs are the backbone of the fleet. The Manila Bay seaplane tenders (which operate the Sea Charger seaplane fighter jets) have proven useful in an anti-piracy role--particularly on Europa, where they also enforce the various whaling laws.

Does the blue-water United States Navy operate anything similar to the Nimitz-class carriers, or is that role filled by seaplane tenders? Interesting that those are around, since they were obsolete pretty much by WW2.
