Alternate Weapons of War thread...

Here are two blank zeppelin hulls without fins that some may find useful to create airships with.

The Commonwealth aerostat الحوت الكبير [Great Whale], one of many Lakhdar-class aerostats still used by the Commonwealth.

The Lakhdar class is an older and more primitive design compared to the more modern Azrael-class bombers and the hi-tech Commander of the Skies-class. This fact is evidenced in the Lakhdar's less powerful [and less numerous] guns, and the different overall design. However, the Lakhdar class was not meant for combat, it was designed purely for heavy lifting, an area in which it excels.

Up until recently, the Lakhdar class has suitably fulfilled Carthage's and the Commonwealth's airlifting needs, however, as the Commonwealth mobilises its forces for the war with the Ottomans, the Lakhdar's speed and fuel efficiency become major problems, leading to the Commonwealth researching a more modern design.

And yet another zeppelin.

The Commonwealth Aerostat قهر [Invincible], one of the handful of massive Burqiba-class aerostats operated by the Commonwealth.

The Burqiba class was designed to be able to operate as a heavy lifter, a heavy bomber and as an air carrier. It can carry massive amounts of bombs, troops or supplies, suitably fulfilling the first two roles. As an air carrier it can carry up to 24 fighters or 8 bombers, making it one of the world's largest air carriers.

Driven by 32 engines the Burqiba class is also relatively fast and maneuverable for its size, though it is easily out maneuvered by smaller aerostats, it can usually make a safe escape from enemy aerostats of a comparable size.

Its large array of guns gives the Burqiba class good protection against enemy planes, and its three, larger guns allow it some power to combat enemy aerostats.

As only 11 Burqiba-class aerostats are operated by the Commonwealth Confederacy, each and every one of them is heavily protected and never put into any extremely dangerous positions.

Their good speed to lift capacity ratio has lead the Burqiba class to become vital in the Commonwealth's attempt to mobilise its forces for the war against the Ottoman empire and its allies.

The Invincible itself is one of the two Burqiba-class aerostats operated by Dai Viet and is currently trafficking supplies and troops from Biru to Australis.

well... the thing with Rigid Airships, like Zeppelins, is that they weigh too much and cant support heavy armament. and would not be able to create an airborne armada or heavy fire support. while it would have the support structure necessary for some. it doesnt provide its own lift and that needs to be provided by the gas bags.

the the zeppelin had an airfoil shape, with several engines (either turbofans or closed turbo-props) set at certain angles, then it would be able to provide the lift necessary to support heavy weaponry.
