As I went on a bit of a railfan moment last night , I thought it would be best to move to the wacky world of aviation for my next slice of DRB madness. All of tonights pictures are from their page on early aircraft , found here

http://www.darkroastedblend.com/2008/11/those-magnificent-men-and-their-flying.html

This first one is very mysterious , the only information that goes with it is that it was constructed by one Horatio Phillips around 1904. I have seen it elsewhere listed as the "flying venitian blind" though wether that was its actual name (Or indeed wether it flew at all) is unclear. considering the pathetic size of the engine compared to any potential fool/pilot , I doubt its flying anywhere except into the dustbin of history
I've seen more about that one. That one didn't fly, or not much, but a model with more of the same sort of wings flew. IIRC, first powered flight in Great Britain. Picture here.

Bloody hell , was he insecure or something. That looks like it must have 100 or more micro wings

OK, and now, some pictures of the most famous "roadable aircraft" or "flying cars" :

Ok, I don't have any pictures :(, but how about a discription?
A vehicle that is propelled by a mechanical 'tail'...like that of a snake; it is placed under the center of balance of the vehicle and slithers it forward; multiple 'tails' could also be used. Does anybody want to take a crack at drawing one? I'm a horrible artist.
