Alternate Turkish people

Could it be possible for the Turks to convert to any religion other than Islam, i.e. Judaism, Christianity, or Zoroastrianism, etc.? Also, could the Turks have settled in any other place other than Anatolia?

the Khazars adopted Judaism, and some Turkic groups in Siberia and western Russia adopted Christianity.

you mean like Siberia and Mongolia? or Poland and Hungary? or Iraq and Iran? or western Russia?

because they're there already.

Sure - they did in OTL as well - if you look at their range, they're all over Asia.

Another religion is a bit tougher, though - I suppose if they had passed above the Caspian it's possible that some of them could have become Christian... but they appeared too late to become Zoroastrian - you would have to have the Persians survive the Muslim onslaught - that might do it.

Hmm, that's interesting. Could there have been a possibility of Turk(ic) peoples reaching Scandinavia?

Yeah. :D Or even the Baltic Sea area + Scandinavia, if possible.

Oh, and Finnish is not a Turkic language, Keenir - it's a Uralic language, like Hungarian. There is a difference. ;)

I think he means that both Turkic and Finnic languages are belong to the Altaic language "tribe" ;) (because I think "family" would be to small for you ;)).

Umm, I don't think that the Uralic languages are part of the Altaic language family/"tribe". However, that's besides the point.

I have just searched things about this matter, and I stand corrected. There is this argument though, that Altaic and Uralic languages are parts of a more superior sprachbund. Even when Altaic language family was proposed for the first time, it also included Finno-Ugric and Samoyedic languages....
