Alternate Terrorism

While Terrorism is much older than the 1900s to today, it really came into its own and started to be used post-1900 (most post-1945) in OTL a few major groups and Ideologies have lead to Terrorism (Irish Republicanism, Islamic extremism) Bombings come to mind right off for Terrorist acts, there are red letter dates (9/11) so I thought I'd make a thread where people float ideas of different Terrorist Groups, different Ideologies leading to Terrorism, different types of Terrorism and different Terrorist acts

This one isn't too plausible, but how about having the miner's strike be shorter, but an even more decisive victory for the government, which leads to a terrorist group based around the more militant sections of the NUM.

Can't think of a name that doesn't pun on Underground, so I wont bother lol.

American Indians perhaps?

If AIM got a bit more violent in the 1960's, that'd do it. As it is, the FBI used to consider them one over a bomb threat against the Lewis and Clark bicentenial, but they never actually got violent.

You know a member of the AIM was one of the key players in The Sum Of All Fears

I was thinking of from the 1870s to the 1910s or so as Plains and South-Western Indians got crushed they turned to planting bombs on trains....

If the '70s went really, really bad we could see a huge upspike in radical environmentalism. Like "firebombing logging companies and blowing up fishing fleets" radical.

That, or a maybe a different reaction to the Scopes Monkey Trial could lead to a group of Southern fundies starting to target and try to assassinate scientist who supported teaching evolution in schools.

Maybe anti-colonialism in India turns more violent?

Ooooh, ooooh, what about if the militia movement of the '90s became even more nutty and militia groups started raiding rural towns near their compounds or mailing bombs to government officials? Wasn't there one cult/militia that tried to poison a town with contaminated produce to keep them from voting in an election?

Hmmm...maybe I've been thinking about this a little too hard...
