Alternate Territorial Claims by Britain in the New World

So, we all know that Great Britain colonized the East Coast, starting first with Jamestown in the Chesapeake Bay, and then with Plymouth Rock, and later the Hudson River and Hudson Bay. Britain claimed Jamaica and several other islands in the Caribbean.

However, these were not the original land claims Britain made. Before colonization started, Great Britain made claims to Greenland, Baffin Island, Newfoundland, the Straits of Magellan and the Horn of South America, as well as a place found on the Pacific Coast by Drake called "New Albion", which might have been in northern California.

What would it take for Britain to continue to claim these territories, and eventually colonize them? More money? Less war with Spain?

Let the discussion begin!

easy...the last 2 you pointed out, plus a want to actually expand into the americas and form a overseas empire

But would the English colonize these places, and what would the affects be? I guess this could also go with a surviving Roanoke colony
