hey, all. it occurred to me recently that, since Mexico is replaced by a revived Aztec Empire in my ASB ATL, i'll need to change the term "Mexican standoff" to reflect this. i don't want to just call it an "Aztec standoff" because 1) the Aztec Empire is much more stable than Mexico and thus wouldn't have a reputation for danger, and 2) that name just sounds stupid
one that i can't help but keep coming back to is instead calling this kind of event a "Brisbane standoff" with the term as popularized originating in Australia, though i'd also like to explore other terms (probably completely different from the OTL term but meaning the same thing) for other regions before "Brisbane standoff" comes into wider use. for example, the default term in the United States could be based on some military event which was fundamentally similar to a Mexican standoff (e.g., three different groups are all in the same place and perfectly capable of taking down the others, but that would leave them weak to take down the second, so it just turns into a stalemate
thoughts? suggestions?
